Good reply.
I can really understand where you're coming from... whenever you're working on any kind of project for customers, mixed feelings about things like this pop up.

What are the plans for the tail lights?
Maybe I missed it, but whats the paint plan?

I can honestly say there is not one thing on this truck I would change now, that is not to say there were not a few things I tried to talk him out of. But in the end I love the total package and really enjoy seeing the excitement on his face every time he sees the truck.

The truck will be painted sunset pearl over brickyard. It is a 3 coat candy system. It is kind of a copper-root beer color. It is very pretty.

Re: The 48 chevy truck Ironworks is building.

Well guys the 48 Is coming along nicely. We are rushing to get things together for SEMA.

There have been lots of changes on this project since we last posted. This truck is going to be over the top. Some of the parts we are working on are just mind blowing.

A big load of chrome arrives today and it is supposed to go to Ron Mangus next weekend. Nothing like Crunch time

Nice work, especially the radiator and inner fender panels, blower intake is sweet.

Agreed, but convincing the customer's wife to leave it bare metal would be tough. Now the customer would have parked it in his living room in baremetal and been happy. It was only because of him we were able to do the metal work we did.

All I can say is that that truck will raise the bar to a new level. That is some fantastic metal work that has been preformed on the body. I see a number of tricks that I am going to have to borrow when I do the body work on mine to make things a lot better and maybe simpler. Thanks for sharing.

Having recently toured petersons automobile museum in L.A. I can honestly say that they had one vehicle there of this caliber in the whole place, and they have some outstanding cars. And i would add that the foose car on display dosent come close.

They work like a re-useable rivet.

Re: The 48 chevy truck Ironworks is building.

Time for some details.

Glovebox
So we decided a while back to take 2 glove boxes and ditch the speaker grille in the middle and make the glove box go all the way across. Plus we thought when chromed it would pop. We we got the glove box roughed in an Steel, then sent the glove box and speaker grille cover to our own Lat-g super hero, Bob Barga.

Bob digitally scanned the parts and then made the outside face perfectly flat while keeping the fit of the parts we sent him intacked. We then sent that Solidworks file to my machine shop. I kid you not, 1 week later we had these in our hands to fit before chrome.

Then we fit them them to the truck before chrome.

Here we are yesterday, holding up the chromed speaker grille cover. We are waiting for the glove box still.

Re: The 48 chevy truck Ironworks is building.

The hood emblem

Well we decided there was no way the stock emblem was going to still fit the hood on this truck. So we took the stock emblem mounted it to the hood and then used bondo to fit it properly to the hood. Notice how the stock emblem did not even have the "R" in the center of the emblem. That right would have drove me crazy.

We did the same thing by sending the part to Bob again. And 1 week later I'm sitting here at the shop wait for UPS with a Saturday delivery.

This piece in Chrome will be mind blowing.
