Re: Found my Great-Grandfathers 1959 GMC Apache

Have you actually looked at the brakes? Just because someone said the just re-did them does not mean it was done properly. The PO on my truck just redid the brakes but there was a mismatch of springs sorta just threw them on to get the drum back on. Jack up the truck, pull the wheels and drums off and just take a look at them but just don't start taking them apart......just look at them and try to understand them. Take some photos and post them if you have any questions.

Re: Found my Great-Grandfathers 1959 GMC Apache

Alright I will,He drove it around and what not but It wouldn't hurt to re-check it.I'll post some photos of the underside of the Truck.I need to see if the braces are there I have the Step Braces but I'll post photos and y'all tell me if you see something missing. You know I didn't know the Exhaust stopped right under the cab I thought it went to the back

Is there something supposed to be there to hold the tailgate from going all the way down?

Just the chains. Are they there?

'58-'59 Fleetside chains are different than '55-'57. I don't know about '58-'59 step sides but I'd guess they're the same as prior years.

Re: Found my Great-Grandfathers 1959 GMC Apache

Yes sir they are, I saw something about Pivots and assumed there was something more. The Tail gate only has one small rusted through hole other then that I believe its savable. Two dents on the top left but that won't hurt anything

The Steps on the bed are taken off, but they have some rusted holes on the edges, I'd like to save them

Re: Found my Great-Grandfathers 1959 GMC Apache

Hey Schrum
Let's see that list!
I'm sure the guys with more experience will guide you once they see it.
i.e. "before you get a gas tank, make sure you want to keep it in the cab. For about the same price you can put one under the bed.
Just take a picture of it.

Re: Found my Great-Grandfathers 1959 GMC Apache

Wow, a list! I think you did a good job getting title in your name as #1!

Try to break it down.

Get title transferred.
-----Call and find out what documents you need
-----Go to courthouse with all required doc
Get truck running.
-----Pull out generator
-----Rebuild generator
-----Install generator.
-----Obtain replacement filter
-----Replace glass gas filter with replacement.
Body work
-----cab
----------sandblast
----------body work
----------etc...
-----bed
----------sandblast
----------etc....
Etc.....

It will help keep you focused and seem productive when you can mark it off the list.

The Truck has already been Sandblasted and Primed

I need a Title to go to the Tag Office and some $$$ to get the actual Title

Get this done right away!

If you wait too long, the DMV will give you a hard time if the PO properly signed the title over to you...if he didn't, get him to do that TODAY!

Re: Found my Great-Grandfathers 1959 GMC Apache

Everything will be taken care of.I know what I need to get the New Title.Yes, I have the Title that he gave me.

Its been sitting outside for a year or so I think, some rust has came back through on the bed sides, I'll re-sandblast them and all the places that need it again

Becareful on continous sandblasting the more you blast it the more the metal warps because of heat friction you end up with a uselees panel.

Re: Found my Great-Grandfathers 1959 GMC Apache

Schrum, I have gone back and cleaned up this thread. This is the last time I do that.. we have been down this road before. I would love to see you get this truck built the way you want and be happy.. however, everytime you have a thread, it seems I have to stop working to come fix the issues in it at some point.
I usually would not even reply this, but you did report it and tell the admin staff they needed to step in and set things straight, so I am.

Here it goes, the next time I have to do so we will be short quite a few members. Drewmc and MisterB, I strongly suggest clicking the next thread link, instead of the reply link from now on unless you have something helpful to add. Schrum, I suggest you stop with the drama or you will not have an account to worry about folks being ugly too.

Hate being like this, but I do not have time to spend digging and weeding and cleaning in these threads bimonthly.

Ban me then Liz, this place has gone to crap since you took over. I don't need to be a member to use the search function(cough). Keep on mommying this 21 year old "kid", and "punishing" those that dare call him out on his BS. For the record Mister B is a good contributing member of this forum (Shurum is not
)and offered this "kid" good advice on several occasions in multiple threads in 3 different forum sections (all deleted). But hey keep deleting his threads and pretending he isn't defiantly ignoring advice while asking ignorant questions. Several hundred folks round here know better, and I'm certain more than a few feel the same way. But go ahead, yield your power, drop the ban hammer. Feels good huh? I will check back occasionally to see how big of a fustercluck this forum has become.
