for the Electrical Gents
Soooo i am dealing with a shaved door handle situation and have a question !
i have heard of some ppl using starter solenoids as the ones to use in doors . if anyone has --could you please tell me how you wired it and which ones or cars did you get the starter out of. i know that the starter solenoids are supposed to be a lot stronger than on the market types and that they have been used as in old school days . the doors on my 57 truck has bear claw latches and when closed the latches really hold the door tightly closed . am thinking of goin with 100 lb pull solenoids but am v curious about the starter solenoids has anyone tried this ? if so any wiring diagram would be greatly helpful. I have also heard that 6 volt solenoid would work in a 12 volt system is that true? Any help or advice would be great --- i just need a really strong pair to get my doors to open . Again any drawings or pictures would be great as a guide to wiring up a pair . |

Re: for the Electrical Gents
Any solenoid will work Chevy works but you need to make a cage to so the piston can’t come out or find one that’s in closed your power goes to the battery terminal and your trigger wire to the start terminal I have never did it but have seen it dun back in the day as you said they used them on trunks as well 6V will work also
