Re: Nitrous Explosion & BAD fire

That would SUCK!!! Not sure what was feeding that fire but it was definately spewing molten metal there for a bit. Wired thing is the battery cutoff 'should have' killed the fuel pump and the fire!

Re: Nitrous Explosion & BAD fire

You'd think at least the driver would have been smart enough to run back and kill the batterys right away?????? Then #2 close the nitrous bottle while the other guys worked on the fire so when the solenoid seals burnt out it wouldn't have fed the fire like that!!!!! That track needs to do some serious training, WOW.

Re: Nitrous Explosion & BAD fire

Nowadays when you see soooooo many drag racers using "nitrous" with pass after pass without any issues you can get lulled into a false sense of "security" about using it.

Same thing with other issues like safety rules like roll cages, belts, helmets, suits, etc..... with pass after pass without a incident again the "lull factor" emits a false sence of security.... then something like the "Scott Kalitta tragedy" snaps us back to the reality of the "extreme danger" that is only seconds away in this sport.

What a "sad" commentary about the dangers that are down the 1/4 mile. May he rest in peace. +
