Got the white on it .... The white is all finished now. Tomorrow we are going to get the quarters ready and in primer so we can beat the winter weather thats on its way.

More progress is always good.

The bad weather should be here in a few more hours. I fired the generator up a while ago to test it out.

The paint work will probably take longer now that you are older....

Re: New project : 72 Suburban

Thx guys .... Im making last minute preparations for the storm. We are not supposed to get a bunch of snow, I think 2 inches max. We are supposed to get a flash freeze early tomorrow morning with wind gusts around 55 mph. Cant be as bad as the ice storm we had last winter, I was out in that most of the night. Enough about the weather LOL, today Dad and I prepped the quarters and shot primer on them. This evening I might get it nick puttied and possibly sanded for a final time but single digit temps tomorrow and Saturday are going to throw a wrench in the works for me getting the paint blown on it I think.

Re: New project : 72 Suburban

Just found this post as I don't often review posts in the suburban section and read it start to finish - very well done!

I'm somewhat local to you (NE Columbus) - do all Napa locations have the ability to put an OEM single-stage color into a spray can or only some?

Thank you .... As Madkidd007 said in his post not all of them do. Ours here in town does not so i have to go to the next county over to have it mixed up and then installed into the rattle can

Re: New project : 72 Suburban

Merry Christmas everyone !!!! .... The internet has been down bc of the storm that went through so I am behind on updates lol. Friday I managed to get the red fogged in on the driver rear portion of the quarter panel. Once distressed both the red and the white should match up pretty well to the original weathered paint. Just glad its going to be 2 tone again and the black primer will be gone.

Looks good! Do you just knock it down with fine sandpaper so some of the primer shows through or is it more involved than that?

Luckily we didn't lose power. I was really surprised.

Some guys will use sandpaper, I comet wash it and use a scotch brite pad for dishes. To make things easier you can go light with your coats in the areas where the paint will fade naturally. We never lost power either, but for 2 weeks now I havent been getting instant updates through my email for the threads i subscribe too including my own. I cant figure that one out

I think I figured it out Leon. The notification box was unchecked on my subscription page so I checked the box and hopefully that fixes the problem.

Here is a thread about that problem in case that don't fix it.

http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=840557

That kind of stuff is usually posted in the "Site Feedback" forum.

Re: New project : 72 Suburban

This afternoon I gave the rear quarter a comet wash and installed the lights. Matched up pretty decent but still needs a little work near the fuel neck area but I will know more once I get to look at it outside. Forgot to get 2 sided tape the other day while I was out so the lower trim piece didnt get installed yet.

Re: New project : 72 Suburban

Thank you BAD1916. Today I got the passenger side fogged in and I also did some touch up around the fuel cap to blend it in a little better. Tomorrow I will give it the once over and if its good start putting it back together.

Re: New project : 72 Suburban

More progress this morning. Comet washed the red and blended it in. Made a little fake rust and stone chips at the rear then comet washed it as well. Taillights and side markers are back in, rear bumper back on, lower rear trim installed. After lunch Im going to start cleaning up the inside and install the rear seat and after that the glove box and that should be it. Might get to take it to pick up the little grandson on Thursday.
