Anyone doing an inexpensive PS rebuild?
Seems like I had seen someone doing a rebuild/repaint of the steering box for $125 or so with a core. Wishful thinking, or am I just remembering back into ancient history?

I got my reman box at Napa for like $179 after turning on the core. I would assume you could rebuild it yourself for a lot less if you have the tools/knowledge. I think I saw the seal kit for like $40.
Napa was best price I found for a reputable supplier. Autozone had one for $125-ish, but I wasn't willing to try after some other flubs I've had with their parts.

Around here rebuild shops do them for about $90, you R&R and they rebuild your box, repaint etc.

This is the video that makes it look easy. http://www.mypowerblock.com/video/mu...steering-box-1 They say that the ball bearings are color coated for the two different sizes.After 40 yrs mine were all the same,which made it difficult too tell them apart.If I had to do it again I would get mine rebuilt or buy a new one.

Being retired, I have plenty of time so I rebuilt mine couple of years ago to replace the seals. I did it for less than $30. Only problem I had was finding the ball bearings. I lost a couple of them and wasn't able to locate anyone that sold them.
If it were a daily driver, I would have just bought a replacement unit.
