As far as the bed goes, I give the guy respect for trying something different and doing a decent job of it. It probably looked alright back when it was done.

But why is the shifter letters backwards???

OMG....

Looks like he went through ALLOT of work to make that. I don't know if I am impressed or grossed out!

And yes Bondo will stick to wood. It sticks very well actually and makes a great wood filler.

He must have flipped the shifter's linkage. Either that, or it has a reverse manual valve body, in the trans.

No, scratch that.... Only forward gears would be reversed.

I wonder if it floats? Whatever you want to say about the whole idea, I have to give whoever did it props for workmanship. Wow!

It is reversed because the pointer is attached to the immobile part of the column and the range tab is mounted to the movable part instead of vice-versa. Pull the shifter all the way down and you still get low gear, it is just working opposite to the way we recognize as normal. Heh, us normal. Now that's funny.

Re: Found a wood bed in the junkyard today. Think you have seen it all?

that deffinately took some time
you should pick that up that thing is a peice of art
also it could look cool if you or a woodshop repaired the wood where it needed to be stiped the whole thing down and put a nice stain and clear coat on it, that is if it has a nice grain to it and if a good wood worker(like a carver or a boat builder) should be able to put a skin over the old wood to give it a nice grained look and it would be a real conversation peice on a truck and it the truck was a similar color to the stain chosen for the bed it could actualy look really neat on a nice restored truck
but also it could just look like crap
cool find either way

Re: Found a wood bed in the junkyard today. Think you have seen it all?

thats nuts. must weigh alot for that old 6 banger to haul around, with obviously all the guys tools.
I think it is very apparent this guy was some sort of carpenter/fix it guy/handy man.
(Cringe) Lord don't let me turn into that.
