Cool One Piece Window Kits: Brothers vs. OPP vs. Don't Do It!

There are a few threads on the topic with varying opinions, no surprise. So lets run a pole and gather some info.
What's your opinion of these kits for use on a truck that is driven daily, year round and not just on occasion. We all know the kits look great once installed which apparently can be a PITA, but is it worth it?

a driver benifits from wing vents if you ever roll down the windows.
I'd like to figure a way to install wing vents on late models so you can roll down the windows withoug being assaulted by the wind.

I have never read anything good about one piece windows. I replaced my vent window rubber, and called it a day. How many times do you open the vent window? I do not think I have ever opened mine after replacing the rubber. It seals nice and tight with no noise and did not cost an arm and a leg.

Re: One Piece Window Kits: Brothers vs. OPP vs. Don't Do It!

I have the Brothers kit on my 68. The look nice, but the don't seal up when rolled up so I get a lot of wind noise doing 75, they were a huge pain to install because the instructions are horrible, and they rattle around when the windows are rolled down. Since I don't drive my 68 that often its not a big deal. For a daily driver I would hate them.

My 72 is a DD. I use the vent window all the time. I can't imagine not having them.

Re: One Piece Window Kits: Brothers vs. OPP vs. Don't Do It!

I have the Brothers kit in my CST.

Good: Pretty quiet on the highway and they seal up nicely when rolled up.
They look nice too. I installed them with manual cranks and then converted to electric windows later on...much better with electrics.

Bad: They rattle and are very wobbly when rolled part way down. The seals that come with the kit are OK but they could be a lot better. Instructions were OK but not great. Didn't like the fact that I had to cut my doors to install them.

Bottom line, I also do not drive it that often but if I did, I'd probably want the wing windows back.

Sean...if you want to look at them in person, let me know...

Being that both my rigs are non AC, I use my wing vents all of the time.

My late model rides all have kickass AC with tinted windows, i rarely need to have the windows down, nor the need for wing windows. Besides, better aerodynamics....lol

i was gonna say who needs vent windows with AC? Vent windows to me are more of a nuisance than anything, in addition a easy way for scumbags to break into your ride. Somewhere in the future, i'm gonna do the one piece windows, i'd like to know if the OPP are the better version vs. the Brothers kit. Not EVERYBODY is going for the resto-original look.

Re: One Piece Window Kits: Brothers vs. OPP vs. Don't Do It!

If you have the skills go with opp..... I wasn't happy with the kit as it left a little to be desired but with a few mods the windows do work well, dont rattle, and seal up nice with no wind noise.

Re: One Piece Window Kits: Brothers vs. OPP vs. Don't Do It!

I installed the Brothers kit on my K25.
They were fairly easy to install, except do not use the glass setting "tape" when installing the window glass into the channel...use urethane instead...much easier.
I've driven the truck around a bit with the windows down and they do not rattle at all, nor do they rattle when opening/closing the doors, but yes, they do kind of flop around a little when you are rolling them up or down.
Hope this helps,
SC
