Post new to board - ? about rims & tires

Hello to all. Have monitored this board for
over a year and have found it to contain a wealth of information, but the time
to step up with my own questions has arisen. I recently installed a drop spindle
kit (maintained factory springs) and 3" drop
springs in rear. After installation I went for a test drive, while cornering I hit a dip
in the road and actually caught a bit of my
front tire in the fender well. I have 16" rims (6 lug)with a 265x75 tires. I guess I will go to 15" rims (tire size recommendations?)
Also it seems like the front and rear tires
no longer line up. As if after putting on the
front drop spindles with disk brakes the rims
and tires set out further then with the drum
assemblies. Is it just me or does a disk setup require a different offset on the front
rims. Any info or comments would be appreciated!

Try 265 60 16's, they'll be a bit shorter.

Welcome from Southern Cali.

Ok first off a smaller rim will require you to get a new tire. The tire size is the thing that's causing you problems, not the rim i dont think. also if you get a 15" rim your front disks might not fit and you'll have to grind the caliper (i did).

Regarding the spacing i think the disc setup sits out further (outwards) than the drums did, also depending on what spindles you used your steering stops might be off, Just a lil FYI. A different offset i think will fix the tires not being lined up and you'll need to go a smaller tire if you dont want to rub, depends on how your front end is but a tire shop should be able to help you there. good luck and welcome to a most amazing board.

That is acurate, the discs did push your tires out a little, and this is why you are rubbing.
