4x6 plates?

Anyone installed 4x6 plates in place of the stock speakers?

I tried searching, seen two people post saying they had installed them on the dash and they "were a pain".

What about the rear panels?

anyone have any details?

Seems plates are the only way to go for decent sound.

Re: 4x6 plates?

I custom built a sub box for under the driver side rear seat and replaced the door speakers with Sony Xplod's. Sounds like a rock concert in there. Tune the sub to handle all the lows and keep the bass turned down on the head unit so the stock speakers don't explode.

Re: 4x6 plates?

Put Polk plates in my 97 extra cab. Had to clearance the hole a bit, but well worth it.

Re: 4x6 plates?

Infinity reference 4x6 plates in the dash.I did no trimming, the magnet is tight, but they fit fine.
Theres no comparison on the sound.

Re: 4x6 plates?

I have Polk 4x6 plates in the pillars on my '91. Mine were completely plug-n-play.

Re: 4x6 plates?

I dropped Infinity 4x6's in the dash of my 94 when i had it. Never touched the rear speakers though. I heard it's real pain to get to them.
