Pipe dream. If it were 1 of 400, that means there were 399 others out there. Surely at least one of those "special", COPO, "SS" etc. 402/454 (no it wouldn't be 396) Blazers would have made it into a car magazine of the era, news/interest article, press release, marketing from a speed dealership (Yenko, Baldwin etc.), word on the street etc. Think about it, there's all sorts of historical archives and printed hype of the day about much less deserving "rare" automobiles. The fact there is no historical archived media of any sort of BB Blazer in existence, leads one with common sense to grin and politely listen to him about his tribute/retro-creation. Im sure its a nice Blazer though, might even be so nice as to have fetched $50K with its stock 350.

You have to remember we live on the west coast where everyone thinks you are rich if you have a job and nice toys. There is a lot of entitlement in this part of the country and there are plenty of Scum bags willing to pry your side door open to steel a nice ride. I see ads on Craigslist all the time out here for people looking for their stolen classic. I think if you roll up with some pictures of your truck and start talking about what you know he will open up. I know when someone says "nice bronco" I pretty much give up on talking about mine.

I have met quite a few people over the years that think they have some sort of ultra rare factory one off. A one of none basically. Like someone stated earlier you can tell me the most interesting story I have ever heard explaining how your ultra rare vehicle came to be, but unless you have some seriously strong paperwork to support what you are saying I am not going to buy a word of it. I would think that if there were 400 special edition blazers made the word would have come out with the proof to back it up a LOOONG time ago.

I'm heading back over there today. I smoked a really nice fall Chinook. I've got some pictures of my truck. I don't have a ton of confidence that this blazer is anything more than a nice blazer. But either way I've wanted to check it out for a long time. I'll report back what I find out. I'll try to get pics, SPID, vin, and look for some obvious big block swap areas.
I know if I was swapping a 396 into a Blazer I would upgrade the axles and drive shafts.
I think the key is to agree all along that what he has is crazy rare. Never to let him think I don't believe what he says about it.

Hopefully I come back with some cool info!

This is the hub for K5 enthusiasts and aficionados. (Without question, I am the former and not the latter) My feeling is it would long ago have come up, or somebody on here would know about it. 400 sounds like a big number for there to be no post, reference or foggy recollection even if it was a dealer conversion deal. Those 400 guys would be super proud of those "special" trucks, and they'd have kids that would wax poetic about "Dad's Special Blazer"...and at least one of them would have come on here asking questions or looking around out of nostalgia. Of course it may be Bigfoot, but more likely it's a guy in a monkey suit. Anxious to hear about the return visit. Good luck. I'd be super pumped if I'm wrong.

LOL I have been by a few times. Nobody home. Blazer safely locked in the garage again. I didn't post an update because I knew everyone would get an email, then be let down. I have talked to his son, and have his dad's phone number now. Turns out he will be back this week. His son pretty much told me the same story. Factory 396.
I mentioned that if it was a 72, it should have got a 402. I told the him that nobody on here has heard of anything like it, and it might be the only one left! I also assured him I would not post any info that would let anyone locate it. He thinks his dad will be cool about it.
so far the phone number only cost me a few pounds of smoked fish, and a box of coors haha.

I'm not sure what to write on here. The owner of the blazer is adamant about not taking any pictures of it. He thinks it will be stolen immediately. He won't let me get a good look at it. Its parked back in the garage. He claims he has "original documentation" that he has no interest in getting out. He just keeps saying its a $50,000 blazer, and it will be the last thing he parts with on earth. I'm pretty much done trying to beat the info out of him.

I will say it has black racing stripes. The look like '71 Camaro SS stripes. Solid black, with thin black pin stripe outline. He says they are original. It has 396 badges. "original". Its got 6 lug axles.

I asked him to pull it out of the garage so we could get a good look at it. He said come back next summer....

The fact it has SS stripes makes it even more unlikely in my opinion. I doubt there was ever a release like that and this is just a custom job done by a prior owner or even him. I don't think Blazers were ever considered to be performance oriented at that time and more for utility. I wouldn't lose sleep over it. I'm sure it's cool, but 50k cool?

I doubt a copo would have been done in racing stripes. Most copo are done very sedate

This guy knows that he is full of BS. He doesn't want any pictures on the net because he knows we would be able to look at the details and discredit his claims immediately. He doesn't want to show you the paperwork because he doesn't have it. He is just trying to find someone with more money than sense about these vehicles that wants to buy it. People like this are abrasive like he is being because they know their story is completely fabricated. My advice to you is to stop wasting your energy with this dude. If you ever come across anything in GM factory literature that supports his claims than you can start getting excited by what he has, but that will never happen.

Your is a VERY nice Blazer, but obviously a clone, since it doesn't have the SS stripes.

No pictures, and a very vague ad. But it sounds like its the same one. For sale on CA CL, but located in Astoria, Oregon. 1 of 400 built! Ad includes a VIN, so maybe that will shed some light on the situation.
