1969 2WD 292 C30 Flatbed

Found this guy sitting on a farm near me... sorely tempted. $1600 is his asking price.

What do ya'll think?

My vision would be to re-do suspension, do the minimal body work needed (rockers and some fender rust, some firewall to cut out and weld in patch) and put larger 33'' All Terrains all around, to give it a little bit of a meaner look.

Neat truck with lots of potential. Too bad it doesn't have the 292 still installed.
If the body work is not too bad and it is something you would like to do, offer the current owner a lower number than asking price and see what happens.

Well, let's see. Does she start and run? How's the basic systems? (Brakes, radiator, transmission).

For me, and I'm no expert, but $1600 isn't a whole lot these days. I like C 30's also but have no use for one and still need to get my C 10 running again.

I'd recommend trying to talk him down a bit, see if he's interested in some sort of trade....partial trade....do you have a gun or something you don't use but he might? If you want it man, get it, I don't think $1600 is too much, not for this part of the country.

It's been sitting my guess better part of a year. It cranks, and I think I could easily get it started but I imagine most systems are going to be needing maintenance. He says he'll get it started for me, but I know from the mouse nest in the glove box is pretty telling of how long it's been sitting.

I was thinking of offering $1000, it's a real old timer who isn't going to accept trades.

Originally I was shopping around for the front end, as I need it for my 69 Suburban Build (http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=621106) but it's in almost too good of a shape to cut it up for parts.

I agree, if it runs, 1600 is very fair, just the bed alone is worth that.

Seems cheap, but with no bed and the original motor gone, you're sort of paying for a cab and a frame aren't you?

This was originally a 1969 Baltimore built C30 stepside pickup with a 9'bed.

White in color and one of the few Baltimore SPIDS to show a trim code I've seen.

It has several "fleet" options.

While the tires, labels and such are pretty normal the rear axle is interesting, wonder what it actually was.

The dual rear was surely added or converted.

If another member is dying to have it, or wants to purchase it just let me know. It's only a few miles from my house and I can trailer back to my place until you could pick it up, or I can load it onto a car hauler for you. But I don't know if it's anything that desirable.
