Re: Project: Blank Slate

Have you got those rims on yet? Come on, hurry up. We're waiting.

Oh, I thought the stickers were rare. I see it is the caps your referring to. Doh! Run the checkered stickers, for now.
Yea, all metal, hard to find. Plastic turns green, stay away from them. jmo.

Re: Project: Blank Slate

Keith.... I can't thank you enough.

westofb... I do have a set of metal caps that I'm going to run and place the GM stickers on. One of the many things on my list to get finished this week.

Re: Project: Blank Slate

We did get a little bit accomplished this weekend on the truck. Here's some of what we got done...

I just want you guy's to know that if you stop by my house at any time... I will put you to work.

While I was taping on one side my FIL was apply overspray paper (newspaper) to the hood/fenders/bumper. After we got all the paper laid out, we then added a sheet that extended over the rest of the hood and cab, followed by a platic drop cloth. Gotta me sure this this doesn't get any overspray on it.

Re: Project: Blank Slate

As it continued to get darker and darker we had to wait until in the morning to continue. What I didn't get pictures of was getting up early in the am to finish taping out the CHEVROLET across the front of the grill. After we got it all taped off, it was time to paint...

After all the coats had enough time to cure, it was time to unwrap the package....

While we were waiting for the paint to dry, I put my FIL back to work and had him polish the center caps for the 15x7's and 15x8's.

Well guy's... with all the tape off, what do you think? I was going for more of a custom look. I always thought there was entirely to much chrome on the center of these grills.... I think it turned out great!

Re: Project: Blank Slate

Okay, so you guy's know I couldn't just paint the center of the grill black, so it's time to finish unveiling the the grill.

As you can tell there's a few areas I need to touch up, where the paint traveled under the tape, but overall I am totally stoked!

As the day continued on, the boy got a little tired of the process...

Re: Project: Blank Slate

After we got the grill unwrapped, it was time for to add the headlight bezels/screws we painted a week or so ago. Here's the finished product...

Size: 44.7 KB

Name: DSCN5287.jpg
Views: 3963
Size: 41.3 KB

Before and After... If you guy's have the chance to locate original headlight bezels, DO IT!!! I'm not sure why the passenger's side was replaced, but it was, so after locating an original we painted them and they turned out amazing. Plus the quality/weight of the originals vs. aftermarket is second to none.

Ahh.... what next???

Name: DSCN5294.jpg
Views: 3960

After we installed the new M/C, you might remember that I posted we had an issue with the initial M/C cover. With a call to ECE, one was shipped and that was all it took. However, during that time some brake fluid was able to eat away at my freshly painted M/C, so it was time for some touch up.

Well guy's, it is time for a Monday night update...

Last week I scheduled an appointment for some exhaust work, and it was set for 2:00. Since the weather was nice, I decided to leave early, take a cruise, and enjoy the drive.

Here's a shot of the truck with that excited look on its face... that we all know and love.
