hood latch adjustment

is there a way to adjust the up and down on the hood latch. when im driving the hood has a tiny up and down shudder. its secure but it moves a little. is there a way to adjust how tightly is holds the hood down?

Re: hood latch adjustment

Make sure your rubber bumpers are in place and then the adjustment is with the bolt/pin or what ever you call it.

You loosen the nut and turn the bolt with a screwdriver a bit, tighten the nut and check until you get it where you want it.

Re: hood latch adjustment

Ditto mr48 chev.

The hood latch bolt spring could be old and weak too, or even missing.

Re: hood latch adjustment

Do you have good hood bumpers in place? You need those so the latch will hold the hood against them snug.

Those seem to be forgotten items on AD trucks quite often including mine.
