What is your family's vehicle/driver ratio?

My wife was giving me grief about a certain 66 Chevelle that I want to buy. She thinks that 2 drivers= 2 vehicles needed. Actually in her eyes only one vehicle is NEEDED, but two is a convienence. We presently have a 55 Ford two door post, 68 Ford Mustang, 72 Chevy truck, 80 Chevy Malibu wagon, and a 93 Dodge mini-van (hers). Am I looking at this wrong, is a 3-1 ratio too much? Or should I go for even more?

Wimmins, can't shoot em and you can't pawn em.

currently, our house has 4 vehicles for 4 drivers.

at one time, we had 7 vehicles for 3 drivers, although 2 didn't work.

3 trucks, 1 car and 2.5 drivers (daughter on her permit). My wife knows the 70 is the toy...my relaxation. doubtful I'll have another until my son gets near driving age, but who knows. Too me it depends on your vehicle useage. I use to have 6 or 7 vehicles with only me as the driver. Had the winter/back woods 4x4...the race car hauler..the track car, the ralley car, the drag car...the rest were daily drivers...depending on ewhich one started that day.

I have the cars I listed below the Mini Blazer being the daily driver, the Chevelle being the summer toy which only sees about 1500 miles a year and the wife has only driven it onces in all the years I have owned it. The 83 a project truck in slowmotion. I had another project going not to long a ago for a V8 implant which I still had when I bought the 72 Truck. I sold the S10 project to keep the wife from killing me, even though she was not mad at all when I drove the 72 home. Lastly the wifes car a Jeep Grand Cheroke Lerado, I don't know if thats spelled correctly but who cares it a mopar product. So the ratio is kind of 2/5

4:1 ratio here. Only one truck though. No wife - that would affect
the ratio quite dramatically I sure. Only two vehicles are road
worthy at the moment. Truck is going on the blocks soon to redo
the steering column and hopefully add power steering. That will leave
me at 1:1 ratio of vehicles I can drive. :p

2 drivers, 3 vehicles, though the 3rd is rarely driven. IMO, 1:1 is a minimum, anything over that is an extra convenience.

Licensed Drivers= 2 ( my wife and me)

Drivable vehicles-
2003 Yukon Denali XL
2002 GMC 1500HD
2002 Ford F150 (Harley Edition)
1996 Chevy 1500
1977 Chevy Cheyenne

Non-Drivable vehicles-
1984 Z-28
1982 C/K Blazer

So that's a 2.5 average of drivable vehicles, or 3.5 average if you count the projects which do run, but aren't "drivable" at this time.

I really want to change the average to 4.5. She wants a 64-65 convertible Mustang, and I REALLY want a 67-72 truck...

There's your problem. You need to get her something a bit more sporty (yet practical), and she will see things more clearer. Mover her on up to a later model SUV, and let all her friends tell her how "lucky" she is to have such a thoughtful husband. While she is riding on that cloud, you can get by with buying the Chevelle...

2 drivers & 5 vehicles. It's too much though. It's too expensive to license and insure as well as maintain them all. All of the maintenance takes up way too much of my time. One or two of em are gonna go.
