headers

I know this has probably been asked plenty but is there any header you guys have used that fits without any mods? Putting a 6.0 in a 66. Heard about Dynatech 2nd gen camaro, Sanderson shorties, Schoenfeld and Doug Thorley. If the Dynatech's will work they are priced much better than the DT's. We are ready to get on with this project so I'm sure I will be posting a bunch of questions in the near future.

Re: headers

Been over a BUNCH of times in this forum, but as a summary:

Doug Thorley- made for the truck- perfect fit- needs new plug wires with angled boots
Schoenfeld- works in the rearmost engine position, otherwise will hit the driver lower control arm
Dynatech Camaro- work well, but hang a few inches below frame rails- not good for lowered trucks
Sanderson- may hit the frame mounts on some trucks depending on position- they're short, so they don't flow any better than manifolds

Kooks TBSS- a member here made 'em work- I've been wanting to try the Pacesetter version- can be had for ~$350 coated/$250 uncoated

Re: headers

I'm really confused now !! I called Doug Thorley and they told me that their headers would not work on a 66. The guy swears the frame is differant on 60-66 than 67-72. I thought they were the same from around 64 up. Is this tech guy crazy or is it me? He did say they are coming out with headers for 60-66 in about 10-12 weeks.

Re: headers

I always thought the frame was the same for 60-72? Thats why so many suspension parts interchange?

Is the consensus on TB SS manifolds still good to go? Thats what I plan on going with for simplicities sake.
