I designed and built my own. Bought the parts on ebay. Cheaper and looks good. (in my opinion, for what it's worth.) Less than $150.00.

Head to a pull-it-yourself junkyard and look for a Ford Taurus with the V6, and pull out the fan. Very low buck, but very reliable and it sucks more air than most aftermarket kits I have seen. I paid for my intake and carb by buying them for $15 bucks from the U-Pullit in Vancouver, WA and turning around and posting them on ebay for $60. I have tested them with a battery and they will take flight from a work bench when you give them 12 volts DC. I also put one in my buddies Nova with a built 400SBC, and once the fan is on you can drop a red shop towel in front of the grille about 4 feet away, and it will end up getting sucked flat onto the radiator.

Heads up - He's talking about a big block, not a small block.
The Flexalite fans, while really nice - won't fit, they're too thick. Derale makes a set that will fit with some trimming of the shroud. Last edited by Ozona; 11-02-2008 at 10:33 AM. |

I am running the SPAL dual 11" fans on my 84 and 91 Silverados. I also have a set for my 68 C-10 when I start to assemble it. They work great, easy to attach. I use the "Mill Strap" aluminum material that every farm, hardware, and lumberyard carries. It is easy to cut, bend and polish for looks. The fans have their own shroud built on them and they have a capacity to cool a serious HP motor.

Yeah I to am in the market for an electric fan for my 6 banger. And with some aftermarket parts such as intake and headers it will need the extra cooling of the electric fan can deliver.

I put the '' mopar fan '' that a lot of us got in my big block shroud ,works great . My 402 is .030 over and 10.50 to 1 comp....

I am running a pair of 14" Flexs a lites in front of my 383(mounted on a steel shelf.)...keeps her nice & cool. The PAINLESS controls are worth what you pay for them. The controls are on @ 185/off 170.....temp runs tween 175-185 ALL day long, on the HOTTEST days in Illinois
Those fans are coolin a 385 horse 383....crazyL
