Re: 1976 Square "Simple Green"

Old motor and old headers I put on. This old motor is the reason for the 3rd lowering kit I have now sitting in the garage that I'm putting on. I will get into that soon. At this time I didn't have the inner fenders in but I do now.

Re: 1976 Square "Simple Green"

Little LED headlight upgrade. I can see now lol. I should have done this with my other squares I owned in the past. I will put these up against any HID headlights. Plus they are a plug and play. No running wires or running relays. I forgot also the clear running/turn signals upfront.

Re: 1976 Square "Simple Green"

The 12 bolt case was still good to go but the internals had to go. Nothing was wrong with them but doing a one wheel burnout is not cool lol. Truck originally had a open diff 3.08. Not anymore I put a Detroit Tru Track limit slip in it with a motive 3.73 gear.

Lol! You know it man. Runs great especially with my 3000-3500 stall convertor and new tranny. Truck stay right at the power band. Hot and go and so do the tires lol. And these Yoko 22" tires are not cheap.

Re: 1976 Square "Simple Green"

Well got the CPP front lowering kit done today. Took the Belltech off didn't even have them on long enough to get any rust on the spindles or coils lol. Now the Belltech will be collecting dust in the garage. Man it is sitting pretty with the new drop. I painted the CPP spindles with VHT caliper black paint for protection. And the coils well they are black powder so no need to touch them. And I figured out why I was never good at math cause by CPP 2.5 drop spindles and 3" drop coils equals 6" drop lol. Plus replaced the old splash shields with CPP ones. I will get pics tomorrow I had to hurry and get everything installed and torqued to spec and get to a cookout. I should have taken pics before I installed it but I could not wait to get it on. It's been sitting in my garage for a week begging me to install it. But I will still get a few pics and post.

A few companies make them but only 2 companies make them with the projectors. The projectors gives you better focal point and better light cut off. JW Speaker makes them and Oracle Lighting makes them. Well I am not spending $800 for JW Speaker lights. So I got the Oracle Lighting lights at half price. Only difference is one is made here and the other is made in China and one is DOT approved and the other is off road. I got them on sale for $365. Now you can get on Amazon and type in 7 inch LED headlights and Phillips, GE, Truck Litt all will show up and you can get them for cheaper but they will not have the projectors. And people report with out the projectors you will get a x pattern on the road. But they still are leaps and bounds over the old holagen lights.

Re: 1976 Square "Simple Green"

Got the new shocks today got the front installed. Will be installing new flip kit and shackles tomorrow with rear shocks also. The new shocks compared to the old ones not a major difference imo. The slammers are a little firmer which I like compared to the Belltech SP which compared to the slammers fell spongy. Both ride good.

On the truck. I was going to put the stickers on them but I have a little boy that wanted them for his power wheels. So he got one and the tool box got the other.

Thank you! I tried to take it Easy on the upgrades had a plan and everything but I got the fever for upgrades. And my plan got blown out of the water. Lol. I just really enjoy this truck and making it drive and look better than it does if that is possible. I got more up my sleeve for it haha!

Re: 1976 Square "Simple Green"

it was already a nice truck, it keeps getting better and better! Did you have to do any modifications when you re-installed the front inner fenders

Thanks BM. Funny you mention that I was actually going to post about that. With the 5" drop in the front and stock fenders I did not have any rubs or scrubs. Now with the new 6" drop I drove it yesterday evening and didn't notice any rubbing but it did rub the top of the inner fender when I pulled in the driveway with wheel full turn. My driveway I would guess is at a 45 degree angle. But driving around town I did not feel or notice any rubbing. But this weekend I will test it out to verify. No rain in the forecast. But I like the look of the 6" with the 22" wheels better than the 5".
