Stumbled across a facebook post that i could not pass up. 01 Tahoe short wheelbase. Saves me from cutting the Denali frame and the wheel base of a SWB 67 C10 and a SWB 01 tahoe is only off by 1/2 inch! So i brought her home!

Definitely a lot of other pieces to make one but hey that's how it has to happen sometimes. Johnny cash "one piece at a a time" comes to mind.

im in.... im loving the fact that you want to build a 67-72 so bad and not just buying a daily swb already driving.

the Tahoe seems to be the way to go. Modern everything... cab/bed mounts and bumper mounts and it should be an awesome driver with old school style

Cut the spare tire mount off, it's a race truck. No need for spares! Why do i feel like that's gonna bite me in the ass later?

Like to ditch the factory tank and run a fuel cell between the rear frame rails. Depending on how low I drop the body i might just run a tonneau cover and use the box for a battery, fuel, air tank, etc.

The plan is to ditch the torsion bars in the front and run air shocks. Monroe MA805 kits are super cheap but ill have to modify the lower mount. Yellow is stock replacement and white are the Monroe air shock.

The measurements are similar but I don't have much room to play with and do not over extend the suspension so I'll definitely need level sensors.

Got some more research to do on suspension components. Should have the engine and trans in soon. Then I can drop the cab on and front clip.

I had a general idea where to make the hole in the frame for the front body mounts from drewskiren and his truck Young Frankenstein but ultimately it would be where ever the centerline of the front axle would sit in the front fenders.

With the fenders bolted up i got the front tires lined up to where i wanted them then I squared the cab to the frame.

I want the cab to sit as flush with the frame as possible because the tahoe chassis is so much taller than the original and the less suspension work I have to drop the better. I found basic body bushings from energy suspension manufactured for a Jeep CJ5. I used large washers and locked the body to the frame.

Now for the rear mounts they are more narrow than the fronts and don't sit on top of the frame. Scratched my head a bit then took the Tahoe front body mounts and welded them to the inner frame rail and bingo.

Now because the Tahoe frame is about 2" taller than the 67 I'm either going to have to cut the front of the frame off or notch the core support which I don't want to interfere with the rad. But winter is about to set in and thats the end of that. She now gets put away for the season.
