Well, I decided to bite the bullet and write the big check to send the truck body off to Musclecar Restorations in Wisconsin. They did my 2+2 a couple of years ago and their work is exquisite, if not exactly cheap.

I waved bye-bye as it rolled away this morning. Not sure how long it will take, probably at least 3 months (but at least they're not the type of shop that will park it in a corner and tinker with it inbetween collision repairs... "Paint and Body Jail" as it's called).
