Re: Dad's Dodge

I started stripping and prepping the top of the cab, lots of surface rust and dried out sealant in the seams. I found one rust hole above the drive that welded a patch over. I put in a couple of late nights this week and was able to shoot a coat of primer over it.

Re: Dad's Dodge

I was able to knock out a lot of little things too. Rebuilt the master cylinder, modified/fixed the throttle cable and kick down linkage, wired new tail lights/reverse lights, installed receiver hitch, mounted cab, made an ignition coil mount.

I plan to mount and do final fitment on the doors tomorrow and then prep them for paint.

Re: Dad's Dodge

Fitting doors and dr fender. I decided to replace the Lh fender since it had more rust than I though. I had to adjust the dr door repair and aftermarket fender to get the gaps right.

Busy at work. Rear glass installed, the Jedi master came out to the shop. She always helps with the glass installation on all of my projects. Also found that the Mopar radiator shroud for a 73 cuda big block fits perfect.

Assembly continues. Wet sanding and buffing too. I had to perform some mirror surgery to get them to angle correctly.

Windows installed. Door panels painted. I am waiting on parts and continue to assembly as time permits. I need to buff the clear a little more as I have some dull spots still.

Re: Dad's Dodge

Thank you Mongo, 18 years and counting. Getting close to retirement.

I have pushed and got a lot of work done, some times I think I rushed in some places and have to pay for that. At the end of the day we learn new skills everything we do something and make a better product the next time.

Re: Dad's Dodge

Front end done and hood aligned as close as it gets. I am thinking the body lines were not as much as a concern back then. I also changed out the water neck to add a thermo valve to control the ported vacuum operating the charcoal canister.

I also decided to add catalytic converters to aid my move to another state, plus they help keep down the stink with a carb.

Re: Dad's Dodge

Washed the truck today and took some photos for my aunt. She wanted to see what it looked like when we were done. I put 150 miles on it so far, had a little carb tuning to do. I also swapped to a lokar throttle and kick down cable, they are an amazing improvement. The kickdown levers on these things are a real pain and the cable makes it much easier.

I have some drive line work to do, it has some vibs at 60 mph.

This was a great father and son project, now it time to fine tune this puppy and enjoy the ride!
