Angry classicparts rubber stuff

so in process of building my 69 pickup, i bought new rubber while restoring my column.

i installed the column to firewall seal and the column around 4 months ago. the truck just sits, hasnt been drivn(no motor)

i went out today and was working under the dash on wiring, looked over and could see sunlight through the seal.

the rubber has literally rotted all the way around the column, with just threads hanging on. are these only supposed to last 4 months?! lol i am kind of bummed.

Re: classicparts rubber stuff

Hmmm, both my floor grommet and dash grommet are from classic parts and mine are in perfect condition. On for around 8 months now. Sorry to hear about that.

Re: classicparts rubber stuff

I buy all rubber and weatherstripping products from Classicheartbeat or GMCPaul. No disappointments.

Re: classicparts rubber stuff

It's funny how the original rubber from 40 years ago was made so much better than the reproduction stuff made now. I wouldn't necessarily blame classic parts for the quality of what's out there. I guess being In the desert would be the ultimate test for the product. Maybe try looking for some good original pieces, that's gonna be the best option.
