"HEAT" fuse

What is the fuse for that says "HEAT" beside it. As you can see, mine is missing. My heater works fine. My blower works and there's nothing else electrical about the heater...that I know of anyway... so what does this "HEAT" fuse do anyway?

The fuse labeled Air Cond should really be Air Cond or Heat, depending on what you have. Use a 10 amp fuse for heat only trucks, and a 25 amp fuse if you have factory AC. The fuse labeled heat is for the radio, but with the right size fuse, could be used for any load that you want on in run or acc. In the first photo, he is pointing at the horn relay.

The size of wire behind the fuse socket will determine the load capacity of the circuit, and thus will determine what size fuse you could and should use. If you put a fuse in there that is too much for the circuit, you will over load it and potentally start a fire.

You can use any size wire up to a 12 guage, and the corisponding fuse size, since the radio fuse powers the plug terminal above it. The heat/AC fuse size is based on the factory markings on the fuse panel.

Everything on my truck works just fine except for the radio, it is dead. I bet that's why. I'm going to stick a fuse in there and see if it comes on. If it works, then I bet I'll see out why they took the fuse out :-) It has the original eight track in it, I hope it works, that will be cool!

That would be cool if it did work. Chances are though, if it still has the original speaker that the voice coil on the speaker is open and the set won't play. The original speaker was 10 ohms impedence, but modern 8 ohm units work just fine in their place.
