Part it or Save it? 71 K10 Cheyenne LWB

I picked up a 1971 Cheyenne K10 long bed a couple weeks back. The poor thing is really, really, rough. It's rusted, has the wrong axles, but runs and did drive before the axle swap. The title has been turned to a junk certificate. I'm trying to see if that can be reversed. I originally got it to use it for parts for my 71 K20 but I hate to knock such a loaded up truck in the head. It's time might be up though.

Cab swap, axle swap, problem solved that’s a tough one. Looks pretty rough for sure. As much as I hate seeing a K end it’s life, it would be going to keep another K alive, that’s one plus. If it was still the original colors and had a good title I think it would be worth fighting for. Your K20 probably could use a tilt and tach right? All that said, it’s got great potential no doubt about it.

I'll save you.

Looks like it might have been a plow truck.....

Those are my thoughts as well. Unfortunately, the tach and tilt were gone when I got the truck. But, I have some found for the K20 already. I'll keep the cab for the marker light roof area for my crew cab project some day. We'll see what the licensing department says tomorrow.

Thanks Leon! I didn't see any extra holes in the frame for a plow but you never know! It could have been.

I don't think it looks worse than what I started with. Granted I had to get a donor frame, bed and fender..

If the frame is good all you need to do is bolt good parts back on it.

Re: Part it or Save it? 71 K10 Cheyenne LWB

If you had a clean title it would be a keeper, a lot of work to bring it back but worth it. I started with a 71 k10 Cheyenne in about the same condition.

Re: Part it or Save it? 71 K10 Cheyenne LWB

This truck ended up getting the axe. The frame went to Nebraska and I kept the powertrain/drivetrain for my K20. Poor truck.
