K30 Differential swap

I picked up a complete 1986 Chevy Pickup K30 for a donor for my 1968 Suburban / Cummins project.

I believe the front Dana 60 is a direct bolt in but I'm not sure about the rear 14 Bolt differential - anyone swapped into a 1968 Suburban 4x4 frame?

Also I believe they are close to same width as original equipment?

What mods were required?

Thanks in advance....

To make it fit (doing a 14 bolt swap on my 70 burb) you will need to move the shock mounts to match, so both in front. You will also need to remove and re-weld the spring perches in toward the center about 1/2-1"(can't remember exactly) on each side.

Re: K30 Differential swap

I've heard there are differences between the 3/4 and 1 ton 14b. I used a 3/4 ton 14 in mine and had to move the shock and spring mounts. Since yours is from a K30, you might not have to move the spring mounts.

Width is fine.

There are disc brake conversions for the 14b if you wanted to do that while you are at it.

Re: K30 Differential swap

A rear 14 bolt from a K30 is a direct bolt in. Spring Perches are already lined up. You might have to move one of the shock mounts.
