67 K10 drivetrain options

Looking for help/ideas on drivetrain options for 67 K10 that was originally a six stick on column 1/2 ton 4x4.I have a 1970 style LT-1 350 motor and looking for input on what to use for engine crossmember, transfer case and transmission? Keep it as originally equipped to keep it simple or are there any better options? I prefer to keep it manual shift,any overdrive options?Power steering and power brake ideas? Also looking for clean straight rust free pass.fender,fleetside tailgate,front and rear bumpers with brackets,drivers side short bedside.thanks

One of the 4-speed manual tranny's available in '67 was the SM-420 (changed to the SM-465 in '68 and on).

The 350 LT-1 was a great engine, and I believe it was used in GM's performance cars at the time.

In a 4X4 I like low end torque and grunt, the SM-420 has the granny-low 1st gear and works well for climbing/crawling up hills and through muddy / snowy terrain.

I've got an SM-420 behind my 383 Stroker simply because I don't have time to put in anything else and I know the old 4-speed can handle the torque from the 383.

If you really want low end grunt, put in a 292 with the granny 4. You'd just about be able to climb a brick wall with that set up.

It is easy to use trans/transfer case combos from any year, but I would try to get it all in one package to assure you get everything you need. You are good with the engine crossmember. The engine stand-offs are different (bolt-on) between 6 and 8 cyl but you "could" use the 6cyl ones. Power steering you can get box/hoses/pump/brackets from same truck and bolt it on. Hose fittings went from SAE to metric at some point later, so watch for mixing those parts. Although hoses can be custom made with either fitting at either end. Power brakes, same thing. You can use complete set-up off of later trucks as well as same era.

Might do well to find crappy rusted out out beater square body for donor, unless even those have gotten to be stupid money.

I found a rotted out 67 3/4 ton 4x4 with a complete 6cyl. 4 speed drivetrain,hope to take a look at it this week.3/4 ton same drivetrain? Just different springs and axles?

Yes.
Note: the 292 L6 takes a special offset crossmember* due to its asymmetrical mounting -- the RH mount is forward of the fuel pump. If your L6 is a 292, be sure to get all the engine mounts, perches, pads and X-member.
[* Also used on GMC V6s.]
I have a '68 C/10 shortbed stepside with a 292, SM465, 3.73 rear. Excellent all-round truck.

Every 25 years I like to rebuild that 292, whether it needs it or not.
