Pretty sure they are black Tommy. As mentioned above, they were on Cheyennes and Supers, kinda like woodgrain door panels and headliners.

It's possible that someone wanted to change the interior to black as mentioned above and swapped out, or even painted, the original olive, blue, or parchment panels.

I also can't tell in the picture the paint color of your glovebox door - is it black or red? If it is black, is your VIN's plant (7th character) code "S"? A red Cheyenne would absolutely have a red gb door whereas a red Super could have a red OR black gb door). I think it was a St Louis plant thing, but don't quote me on that... Black door is not definitive proof, but it's one clue of several. Anyway, hope that helps.

It does have the stainless tailgate handle cover. The glovebox door is all red. The code on mine is a z.

Re: Post a real Cheyenne Super only (aka the defiinitive Cheyenne Super thread)!

got it. well, like I said, red gb door doesn't sway things either direction. the 71 should have a solid chrome tailgate handle, not the slip on stainless cover, but who knows... maybe a few late in the year 71's got the slip on??? Z is Fremont - S would have only been a clue if you also had the black gb door. Nice truck.

EDIT: Oops! I was looking at your signature thinking you were talkin about your 71, sorry - I see now on the previous page the red/white is a 72 - so, yes, slip on cover would be correct.

Mine are there, they're blue though. I know my truck isn't 100% completely original paint, could've been oversprayed i guess.

Thanks Tommy, interesting. Would be good to know (if overspray) - I thought they were like a flimsy/floppy wind break material, surprised they are truck color. Now I want to go look at mine again!

Haha. I already looked again. Mine can't be oversprayed. They're full blown blue, the whole thing

They are black rubber material from the factory. If they are body color then they have been sprayed. They can only be removed with the fender off so they often get painted.

Re: Post a real Cheyenne Super only (aka the defiinitive Cheyenne Super thread)!

Here is one I found searching for something else. It was posted 2012 by Don Loverink which shows account suspended now. No Spid but I'm certain its an original Cheyenne Super K10 in original condition. Notice the black headliner with the parchment interior.

Re: Post a real Cheyenne Super only (aka the defiinitive Cheyenne Super thread)!

I wonder why the black headliner?
I've seen other trucks that had parchment interior, with black dash pad, seat belts and sometimes steering wheel.
My orange truck in post #75 was parchment spid. It had parchment headliner along with door panels and visors.
The dash pad, steering wheel, belts and carpet were black.

Oh well just another piece of the puzzle to figure out.

yeah, that black headliner is an oddity, interesting. and, other than PO1 vs PO3, it's almost identical to the K10 I posted a few pages ago. Really like it. Greg - weren't you gonna post a sierra grande too?

Re: Post a real Cheyenne Super only (aka the defiinitive Cheyenne Super thread)!

dats a spiceya meataball! that's really nice and a 558 paint code to boot.
gmc question - I don't recall seeing "houndstooth" seats in Sierra Grandes - Allchev (or anyone) did the Sierra Grandes get the same type of seat cover a Custom Deluxe gets in a chev? It looks like it - I think the Custom Deluxe fabric is a GREAT looking seat cover - prefer it very much over a Cheyenne or Sierra all vinyl. It's right up there with houndstooth for me, if not even a little nicer. Just curious - not too up to speed on how the gmc's were outfitted interior-wise.
