Restoring dad's 68 C10

Hi. I'm relatively new to the forum.
I am doing a budget restoration to the 68 C10 fleetside long box that dad bought new. I was 17 at the time and he told me to pick out the one of six that were available for $2788.00. I pick one of the two light green trucks with body side trim. It was a 250 six with a three on the tree. Dad used it sparingly as a light work truck.
Before dad passed he gave me the truck with only 63,000 miles.
I have used it as a light work truck as well as a daily driver.
It now has a 307 with a 350 trans and 106,000 miles.
It has the typical rust in the usual areas; lower fenders,doors, rockers, cab corners and floor.
I'm collection parts like power steering and disc brakes to make it more pleasant to drive. I could sure use a solid nice driver's door and tailgate and some rust repair panels if someone has spares.
Most of the trim has some kind of damage and I would like to find some in better condition.
I'm planning to strip the truck down to the frame and replace the worn components. I'm NOT building a show truck or trailer queen. Been there,done that. Trophies and awards are collecting dust somewhere...
I just want the truck to look good with no issues.

I have one question.
Is the frame year specific or can I use a frame from a different year on my 1968 C10 fleet side long box?
Any info will be greatly appreciated.

I'll be honest. I'm a 66 year old "nuts and bolts" kind of guy. I'm quite happy living in the last century when my truck was built. I only got a cell phone a few years back for emergencies and use the computer and interweb sparingly.

I can take pictures with my cell phone and get them to my email address.
I can forward them directly to another email address but so far don't know how to post with my reply.
Any assistance to gain this ability would be greatly appreciated.

Ron, I'm with you on this computer stuff, I'm just a dumb truck guy myself but I'm slowly figuring it out. If you scroll past the box where you type a reply go to "managa attachments" and click on it. Then click on one of the little boxes that says search browser (I think) and your pics should come up, then click on the pic you want then click in download and it SHOULD put it on your reply. I hope this helps, it took me forever to be able to post pics from my phone.

Ok I was wrong after you click manage attachments then click on CHOOSE FILES.

Ok. Thank you for the instructions.
Let's try this.
Pictures of my truck that I used for a parts wanted ad.
The truck is all original paint except for the driver's door.
I will repaint the C10 the same color but am considering a two tone with silver on the bottom and roof.
I will be using widened stock wheels 15 x 7 and 15 X 8 painted silver and the original poverty hub caps also silver.
The grill will be silver as well.
.....or maybe bright white instead of silver.....

Cool story and truck! Man if only they were still only 2,788 bucks! I like your game plan for it. Stock appearing with subtle mods is my favorite style. Good luck and welcome to the forum.
