Re: I guess it's my turn. Build thread for "Rocket"

Well, sorry for the lack of updating. It's been a long few months trying to get our own place and settled.. Finally got into our new house, and back to having my own garage again! It still has scattered stuff from the house around it, but I have my workbench and tools accessible.

I decided to undertake the Taurus fan upgrade. All of the info on here helped a ton figure out how to make it work. Picked up the fan at my local JY for $30. I got my Volvo relay on ebay for $16. And the s10 relay mount came with 3 extra bosch relays for FREE at the same junkyard (not sure what I'm going to even use those for, but I couldn't turn down the price haha.) And to top it off, I picked up the dual fan switch from an audi A4 in the same JY, and also for free. The switch isn't installed yet, I'm working on finding a bung that size.

Mounting everything was the most time consuming part of the project. Once everything was in place, running the wires was pretty straight forward.

It currently is only running the low side wired to a SPST switch in the cab, since my radiator doesn't have anywhere to mount the temp switch. But once it warms up to operating temp, I flip the low side on, and it drops almost a full letter (TEMP on the stock gauge.) It usually runs right in between E and M, and once I turn the fan on, it drops down in between the T and E. I have NO clue what that translates to as far as numbers, but I'm assuming it is good.

Once I find the bung for the switch, I'll be installing that, and keeping the override switch just in case.

Re: I guess it's my turn. Build thread for "Rocket"

Well even having only the low side of the Taurus fan hooked up to a toggle switch, Rocket stays VERY cool! Even in the 105 heat, unhealthy smoke filled valley, in crawling traffic, temp never went above the E mark on the gauge. Can't wait to dial in the rest of the dual temp sender and see if that high speed will ever need to kick on!

Next, I picked up a bucket/bench seat from a '99 Ram 2500 yesterday for $50! Another awesome score. Been watching how-to videos on how to either wire up, or remove the electrical seatbelt stop, since they don't release without power, or if the little piece inside is removed. Here's how it sits, hopefully will get it mounted soon, and then fix the tear later
