Did I mess up?

The harmonic balancer on my 350 is in rough shape and needs to be replaced. Not being near the truck I ordered one from memory (so I thought ). The one I got is 6 3/4" and the one on my 350 is 8", will it still be ok to run or should i get another 8"?

I would get the correct 8" balancer.

Re: Did I mess up?

either one is fine. there is two different timing tab's that bolt on. I have the smaller one on my crate 350 as the 8" would not fit with my front engine horseshoe mount.

I was given a tab for a smaller balancer and was told most cars had the smaller one on them. Problem is I'll have to cut off the existing tab.

Before cutting your tab, see if you can pick up a timing tape for your h-balancer. Some auto parts stores carry them or you can order on the internet. Just make sure #1 piston is at exactly top dead center on compression stroke and line up the tape TDC to the timing tab.
