Re: Cup holders???

I used to drive trucks (simi's) for a living. I had an old peterbuilt with no cup holders. And this is going to sound funny but it worked out great. I went down to Kragen's and bought a $7 adjustable cup holder with a flat bottom. Then I simply used some industrial velcro and stuck it to the top of the dash in a flat spot in reach. It held everything from the simple soda can to my big 44oz coffee mug. Used it for nearly 7 years and a little over 1.2 million miles. I actually used to get other drivers see it though the windshield and ask me where I got it. I actually kind of miss it, but my car doesnt have a flat dash. LOL.

Re: Cup holders???

do you have bucket seats or bench?

I too want some cup holders, I dont want to put the cup holder under the dash where a person seating in the middle might hit the cup holder with their knees.

What year is your truck? 60-63 with the curb windshiled has a perfect spot for cup holders, well at least I think it does, look at my int in the picture

also, look into boat cup holders, there are some nice ones out there and many swivel to keep the drink balance at all times

Re: Cup holders???

I have a 2002 Silverado seat ( 40/20/40) in my truck, with the cup holders on the front of the middle seat. I have also seen them on the fold down center console too!

Re: Cup holders???

Little known fact, the cupholder that comes on the back of the glove box door (at least on my 66) is in fact the BEST cupholder on the planet.

I don't know why or how, but the little 1/8th inch crease that the cup sits in holds it like nothing else. I've put a big AZ Ice Tea (the tall cans) in there, and took off from a stop, kicking the rear out slightly. That cupholder held that awkward tea can up to 60, and didn't blink until I applied the brakes hard, rocking it forward but not spilling it over.
Explain that to me with physics....that little excuse for a cupholder shouldn't work.

Re: Cup holders???

I never tired those in the glove box door. Always thought it was just for when you were stopped like at a Sonic type of joint.

Re: Cup holders???

One of our members used a cup holder out of an Audi that he mounted under the dash, but on the driver's side. It's slick as all get out. I have the link to the post, but it's on my home computer and I'm at work right now. I'll post it tonight if someone else doesn't by then.

Re: Cup holders???

I've narrowed it down to the 98-04 Audi A6's. It may be used on some of the other models, but that one for sure. They're frequently on ebay, with the occasional great deal to be had.

"cant go wrong with this, I have two of these"
That is what I had in my 63 , the dog leg on the drivers side had a screw hole in it and the holder came with a cup at the local convenience store ,so with 1 screw it was all done ,worked great!!

Re: Cup holders???

Isn't that what the little dips on the glove box lid are for? What else do you need? haha

But seriously, check your local junkyard for some factory ones on different cars. Even if it isn't an Audi one lots of them are low profile and fit under the dash just fine

I will likely add cup holders to my console if I ever get that far.

Re: Cup holders???

When I go to McDonald's I get a cup holder and set it on the hump or on the seat. When it wears out I get another. Some good ideas here and I'm looking for something underdash also. I have a "Bar Bouy" but it's not bigenough.

Boom. Stick it to the window and you're done haha. Elegant? no. Practical? It has a swivel arm!

If nothing else you could keep it in the glovebox for when you need it

Re: Cup holders???

I've got a high-hump trans tunnel... I'm going to convert to a low-hump trans tunnel, then modify the high-hump cover to have an area for the floor shift handle to come through, ahead of that will be a small recessed tray for coins and stuff (catch-all), and I'll add two cup holders, mounted front/back, on the passenger side of the shift handle. It'll look factory, because of the contoured stamping.

I'll also put a factory cigarette lighter on it, probably in the catch-all area, to use as a power-port for charging my cell phone.
