Is this a 60-61 only part or???

SO I was just going through the "Let's see your suburban" thread and I noticed that almost no one has the trim panel between their back quarter windows like the one I have. It is a metal piece that covers the vertical center bar in the side windows.
This is what I am talking about:

In this pic my 'burb is parked next to this '61 Chevy and it also does not have the trim plate.

The only other one I saw that had them was KIC's suburban but his is also a '60 GMC so I'm wondering if anyone has a 60-61 Chevy that can confirm it was used on both makes. Also, if anyone has a 62+ suburban that has them let's see them.

I'm guessing these are pretty rare then if they are only used on 60-61's.

Re: Is this a 60-61 only part or???

I've never seen those before either. Very interesting, especially since they are not aluminum or stainless and don't really add much of the special GMC bling. And speaking of not seeing things before, what are the little interior raised bosses under your sliding windows for? (Sorry for the temporary thread derail)
Btw, heck of a job you're doing with your burb. I've been watching/enjoying all along since you got this one 'cause I almost got it myself. Keep up the good work.

From Ebay, a 61 Chevy that has this panel as well.

I guess it did not matter if you had dual sliders or rear fixed window.

I would say that last one doesn't have them. You can see the vertical weatherstrip. That panel covers the vertical weatherstrip.

So far, we've only proved that 60-61 GMC's had them but no Chevs. Hmmm. I wonder why GMC would add this seemingly mundane detail and not give it to Chevys too.

I parted out a '60 GMC 4x4 Suburban about 20 years ago that had that trim piece. As far as I know it was an '60-'61 GMC only thing. I saved all the trim pieces, but they were all stolen.

Yep, however those promo shots are not always totally accurate as far as regular production goes. For instance, I remember seeing a short wide C-20 in a factory promo shot, and that truck never existed. Just sayin'.

That's enough evidence for me. I'd say that panel is a 60-61 only for both makes. Thanks everyone!

Re: Is this a 60-61 only part or???

Now, how much work would it take to convert the inside trim piece to be used on the outside?

The little trim piece ads a very subtle, finished detail.

I don't think it could be done. The inside one has flanges top and bottom that bolt to the upper and lower frames of the windows.
