bought a 92 2wd yesterday

I have been looking for a decent lower mileage 95+ truck for a while and haven't been able to find anything for a good price. I came across this nice little 92 a couple days ago and after a little haggling I picked it up for $1k. Its got a ton of miles but the owner had receipts for a gm installed motor and tranny about 100k ago. It runs and drives great, Im going to ditch the topper, throw some rallies and a 4/6 drop and drive it.

Here are a couple pictures

Its got 271k miles but the seats aren't worn, everything looks really nice. I got a folder full of maintenance papers with every oil change, belt, tune up... starting at 22k miles

So I did get a little bit of work done today. I got the ac charged up so it blows nice and cold and I took off the shell too.

What do you think of the wheels that are on this thing? They are kind of growing on me.

Re: bought a 92 2wd yesterday

I liked the wheels when I first saw them. Rallies are nice but I think these look great already. And much better without the top.

Re: bought a 92 2wd yesterday

Congrats! Looks pretty darn nice for that # of miles. Can't beat the price either! Those wheels don't look bad. Just make sure they won't give any issues when you lower it. Keep us posted on your progress.

Nice score! I like the rally wheel plan. And are you going to take the mouldings off? Looks like the PO already started in the back...

Not sure about the moldings, its such a pain in the butt to get them off Started working on getting that hitch off the front, I got one side grinded/sawzalled off and got bored so I decided to throw on some 2" shackles I had laying around. They leveled it out pretty good, still needs to come down a little bit though.

I saw keep those wheels. The right stance and tire size will make all the difference. For 1000 bux that's quite the deal.

Nice one. I really like the wheels. Kinda look like slots at first, but really are better for a '90s truck since they are era correct. These trucks are over 20 years old and time to pay respect to their vintage status,IMO.

Hard to believe these trucks are that old for me, I still think of the 95+ as a pretty new truck haha

The center caps are "Ultra" brand, I may just keep them. I'm going to test fit my rally's once I get the drop done. Yes the truck is a 350, drove it today for the time and it runs pretty smooth.

Thanks, drop should be here tomorrow. I cant wait to get this thing lowered and start driving it.

I did some calculating and with tire prices and mpg this truck will pay for itself in about 4k miles! even sooner if I can sell that ugly topper My DD is killing me on fuel and tires are just stupid expensive

Got the drop done, still need to do the notch. These wheels aren't going to work, had to pick up some front tires and swapped the rears on the rallys. Ill get some pictures with the rallys tomorrow

Well, I plan on keeping it but I'm going to throw it on Craigslist and see what happens. If I can make some money on it I'll let it go but I'm going to price it on the high side.

it is a bummer, I got the rallies mounted up and I think I like the other wheels more. The whole idea behind this truck is cheap cheap, two new front tires were cheaper than buying new wheels

Thanks, I think it turned out pretty decent for not a ton of money invested.

After looking it over it looks like the rear end is shifted about 3/4" to the passenger side, guess I have a more stuff to do.

Nice lookin truck, I can't believe that drivers seat has 271K miles and still looks that good!

The drop looks good, but in my little ol opinion it needs bigger wheels, something like 17 or 18s look good and fill up the wheelwell better. I'd keep an eye on C/L, that's how I get most of mine. Might even get lucky and find a set with tires too. Even some stock takeoffs can look good if you choose wisely. Just my 2 cents.
