probably the grit size for garnet. i think i'm using 20/40 something like that. i gotta double check but it's good for all around use. i just got my new ceramic tips for my blaster(cheap ones from craftsman $6 for 2) went to go change them out and the original tip was stuck and came out in 3 pieces. worn all the way through and started to eat the aluminum gun nose. i was wondering why i wasn't getting good pressure lately while blasting... it's one of those consumables...

i would post this question in the paint and body section the guys there know alot more about it then myself...

i hope you are using a respirator and some form of dust prevention. silica is a known cancer causing agent. get that in your lungs and it can develop into cancer many years later. i used to blast with starblast, contains silica. i REALLY MESSED UP my lungs doing that. didn't use a respirator and i had a hard time breathing for months. i wouldn't doubt one day i come down with cancer because i was young and dumb.

Haha, ya I wish! That's like 3 hours of work! I know it doesn't look like much, but I welded in several more holes and did a TON of grinding and hammer/dolly work.

Yes I plan on posting "after" pics once it's all clean.

FF,
Watching that made me think of an old Govt. experiment where they would put the monkey in a cage and have him doing stupid pet tricks!! lol....

But hey, it's paying off, the project is looking awesome.. Time for me to come see it in person, and get some grind time of my own..:metal:

Been kinda milking this firewall clean up... There were a sh!t-ton of holes! Well they are all filled now and I'm finishing up the grinding/smoothing. Also built a stand for my tube bender, shrinker/stretcher, bead roller, and sand bag.

I don't believe the firewall is smooth because you didn't post a picture

 guys. I'll get pics of the firewall tomorrow.

I do have some grainy night cell pics of the tool stand. I was planning to show it off after I add some mandrel hangers and paint it. But here you go. The natural question will be; can you use them all mounted like that? The answer is; I positioned everything to allow me to use them for smaller jobs with everything on there. For bigger stuff I can always remove one or more of the tools. To use the sandbag obviously all tools will be removed. I may just end up building another one for that.

What you see peeking out from the left side of the second pic is the oven I picked up on craigslist for powdercoating

looks good FF, i'm jealous on the bender... you should powdercoat it once you get it all done. my oven is setup to share my AC for my compressor. i have an extension cord i use to plug in my compressor and plug in my oven when i need to use it. you'll love powdercoating once you start. what gun are you planning to use? also where are you planning to pick up powder from? i've had good luck with the craftsman setup and getting my powder from columbia coatings. price is good, they have specials on occasion, and shipping is fast. here's a shot of a honda valve cover i did for a friend in wrinkle red.

Looks good man. I got my setup from Caswell Plating. Bought powder through them too. I'll have to check out your suggestion.

Re: '66 Sunbeam Minx Project - F20C/6sp/4-link/Discs...

they have good powder too FF. i've used them, pricing is pretty decent. i think i have a total of 50 colors so far :D i keep getting requests from friends to do this or that. caswell's cans are top notch. with the moisture pouches inside them keeps the powder fresher. the reason i like the craftsman setup is that it doesn't waste soo much powder when you clean up the gun. i have an eastwood gun too, but cleaning i have to take it apart and there's powder in the gun, in the barrel, in the cup, in the tubes the diffuser etc. craftsman setup(i think summit is the same) you load the cup, and pull the trigger. no button to press, no airline to plug in, built in air supply, and cleanup is easy. only think i don't like about the craftsman one is it leaks a little, but i solved that with a large o ring :D

here's what it looks like

and here's a link to columbia coatings

I know it's past midnight but I just came in from the shop after a full day of working on the DriftBeam! It may not look like a a ton of progress but I wrapped up a lot of little things and have the PS S2000 rail section in it's final position and partially welded in. Before doing that I had a bunch of welding to do on that piece to fill holes and improve rigidity.

This was the only rust-thru spot I've found anywhere on the car. I opened it up back to good metal and sprayed the cavity with Rust Reformer:

Welded up:

Like it never happened:
