Re: Power Brake Booster Adapter Bracket

What booster and master depends on what braking system you have. Is it drum/drum or disc/drum or disc/disc? There is a short list of compatable boosters in post#1 and a more complete list in post #183 on page 8.

I'll send you a PM with purchase details.

Hi, I'm a new member to the forum. I have a 1965 chevy truck that is mostly stock but I would like to make some upgrades. I have seen your Power Brake Booster Adapter Bracket and would be interested in purchasing one. How would I go about buying one and what booster master cylinder combination would you recommend? Thanks!

Hey,

I just put up a post on a problem I am having mounting my booster to the firewall. Looks like this will solve that pronto. Please take a look and let me know if it is the fix.

This link is awesome!! I am definitely going to be going this route once I get my bracket and disc swap parts all collected. I hate having to lift my leg up off of the seat to push the brake pedal. PM sent on the bracket for use with an NV3500.

I finally have my power brakes installed. I went with the power brake booster from a 90 Astro Van P/N 54-71220 and the Master Cylinder from a 70 Buick Estate Wagon P/N 13-1063. Captainfab bracket was great (just as advertised)! I've attached a picture for reference. I do have a question though. My brake pedal doesn't seem to engage until it's near the floor, is this normal? I would have expected it to engage sooner.

Re: Power Brake Booster Adapter Bracket

Thanks for posting a pic of your installation.....looks good.

As for your low pedal, there are a couple things to try. One is to adjust your pedal to booster pushrod a little longer. Another is to verify that the master cylinder you got does actually have the shallow bore in the back of the piston.

Mock up pics of the booster bracket, booster, and master cylinder in the dropbox link below. I will be pulling everything back apart for paint and will get some more finish pics then. This is a GREAT piece that is a perfect fit for the truck.

Small install hint, sometimes, the pedal assembly is torqued up and the holes do not properly align with the firewall holes. Loosen the pedal assembly from the column mount under the dash and it will allow you to move those into the correct position for the 4 bolts to line up.

Thanks for the link to the pics and the compliment :)

What booster and master are you using?

That's an OEM 71 booster and master cylinder from Oreilly

I have 2 of these '63-'66 booster brackets that I had zinc plated. The price is the same as the powder coated version which is $61.50 plus $11.65 for shipping.

Re: Power Brake Booster Adapter Bracket

Do you still have the zinc coated brackets? If not do you still have any brackets for 63-66.
Thanks

Captainfab 04-30-2014 11:39 PM

Re: Power Brake Booster Adapter Bracket

Yes I do have one zinc plated booster bracket left.

The parts that I make are not a limited run of parts, they are always available. I make them on a one going basis. Although the zinc plated booster brackets don't seem to be a big seller, so I may not have any more done.

Where did you buy the booster, master, and proportion valve?

Captainfab 05-19-2014 12:11 AM

Re: Power Brake Booster Adapter Bracket

You might try sending him a PM, but to me it looks like one of the typical aftermarket booster master and prop. valve combo's available from ECE, POL, CPP, etc.
