Looks sweet. Do you have any problems with it hitting the firewall? What mounts did you use?;)

Re: MY build thread...

Stock mounts and its close to the firewall but I still need to move some things around and see where it sits. but its close to where it is. Thanks it means alot this has been along time coming getting this thing going back togather.

Re: MY build thread...

I'm getting close to test fitting mine. I've heard people having trouble with the HEI or the valve covers. I was going to see if stock mounts would work but I guess I'll just watch you.;) Did you notch your cross member to get to the top of your bags? It's hard to see. I don't know if you have to or not?

Re: MY build thread...

No Im running the bolt in top plates and ptc fittings so I will mount bag to plate then feed line through the frame hook up then bolt plate togather. I dont really want to notch the frame. The VC are close but I am running tall covers and havent got the placement correct yet I might move the holes some or modify the stock mounts to get the motor where I want it.

Re: MY build thread...

Is it just the valve cover clearance? I see you already have the motor mount brackets in the forward holes, but your engine seems to sit farther back than it should with the brackets in the forward holes. Are you using the '68-'71 big block brackets?

Re: MY build thread...

This truck was actually a inline 6 motor but had a 350 already in its place with a pg trans. I looked alittle closer and where it sets now I have about 1" clearence on drivers side cover but the pass side tucks back in the firewall some but still doesnt hit. My dizzy is about 5" off the firewall.I am going to move the trans mount back then see if it sits where my other truck did. I also need to put my drive shaft in and see if it has enough slip in it.

Re: MY build thread...

Well ran into the next problem I cant go back any further back then where it sits nowso I need to get a longer driveshaft. My other truck the mounts were in the back position and it fit with short covers but I like these covers and want to keep them so anybody close have a turbo trans shaft from shortbed truck? I had mine shortened 3" and now is about two inches too short and I dont want it breaking the tailhousing or vibrating. SO I have to drill one hole in the frame for the front motor mounts (on the crossmember) get new tranny lines, and a longer shaft BUT i have more clearence for dizzy! OR I could sell my VC and get short ones.

Yea I think I'm going to put the bags in the front and set it on the ground and I need to cut the bolts off the track bar and get it taken off for a longer one. I have to work in the morning till mid afternoon.

OK guys I got the motor mounted and finalized so I decided to set it on the ground and start looking at other things like all the mounting hardware for the frontend and still need to extend the rear brakeline for duel pot master cylinder. Heres a couple pics. I need some money now...

Re: MY build thread...

Well got the bags mounted front and rear and hooked up the torque convertor to flexplate and took off the front drums to clean out the rust and stuff from sitting. Also started fabbing a long track bar and mount so the rear stays centered. Now on to the bed...

Thanks man. I got the brake from harbor freight online and I haven't used it yet I'm kind of upset I spent the money on it But I'll find a use for it soon.

Well track bar is done, painted and mounted and decided to paint the steering column so I scuffed it and primed with etching primer and crows feet all over so I broke out the wire wheel, scotchbright, sandpaper and buffer and heres what I ended up with.
