Looking good bud how did you mount the kart wheels and tires to the wagon?

5/8ths hot rolled round stock. Drill the holes in the factory running gear oversized. Measure for the correct axle length and have the ends threaded. Mount the wheels on racing kart 5/8ths hubs. I get mine from BMI Karting online. Use aluminum tube to cover the steel axle and to also act as spacers so there is no lateral movement in the wheels. Polish the aluminum so it has a mirror finish.

For a nut to secure the wheels to the axle I use a zinc plated acorn nut. This style of wagon is far cheaper to produce than the one I built in previous posts on this thread since I used factory running gear. I custom built the frame and steering for the other wagon.

Also make sure your overall tire height isn't more than 10 inches. Otherwise taller tires will bite the tub if you turn to far.

This is a old thread but I just got my grandson this kit. I going to match it to the full size 56.

I plan to buy a old body and build another one though to hot rod it up some.

Here is the kit from Speedway motors. I pick up a set of used go kart wheels &tires tomorrow for the other one I plan to build. I have to clean them up and polish them but for $30.00 I can handle that.

My wagon doesn't really fit into the same category.......I guess it was my dad and grandfather's project a long time ago though.......but I won't be altering it.

The hardware and 3 of the wheels are original, the 4th wheel was copied from the original 3 by an Amish wheel maker near Washington IN. The hardware was in my Great grandfather's stuff when they moved him from Chillicothe Texas to Illinois in the early 70's so grandpa recreated the wood from pictures he found. (long before the internet existed to find such things!)

BTW, yes, I do believe it was supposed to be a "Studebaker" wagon but the r apparently broke off at some point.........but I could be wrong. ????????

Anyway........I thought some of you might get a kick out of it anyway.

Like I need another project, but I have some granddaughters who need a cool ride:):):)

Mocked it up today for measurements. Going to be using the "drivetrain" from a Cruzin Cooler.
