Going to be a monster... stay tuned... can't wait :)

Boy that is tough! Good luck deciding. Either way would be very cool and unique.

hehe, yeah, but actually I prefer clear tequila... so any top shelf clear tequila is fine for me :)
I'd rather spend time with my Dad for now(he's almost 80)... but he's going to keep me company this week while I do work on my truck here and there a little at a time. I hope he's here when I install the painless wiring harness LOL

Tell me about it... but I think I'm going with the Pontiac 461 first.. it's going to have a solid roller cam, and will be making 500/500 HP/TQ... It can rev and maintain higher rpm's than the Olds.
Then I can switch to the Olds later and compare their drivability etc. on the street... It's going to be cool, and interesting to see it up and running

yeah, all ok... we were on our way going fly fishing for trout, and I was distracted for a second or two, and a string of cars slammed on their brakes because the first car in the line slammed on brakes to whip into the barbecue shack LOL, and it was a classic rear end crash hehehe, oh well... anyone want a 2001 Nissan Frontier, slightly smashed? LOL

I got a parking brake kit from LMC, and they don't look anything like what is on my truck... I ordered the part numbers listed for my year, so I don't think I messed up the order on my side...

Anyone know of another place I can get a quality parking brake cable kit complete front to back?

Nice build and attention to detail!

I recently did the parking brake on mine. The factory cable was in three sections (front, middle and rear). The replacement I bought at O'Rielly's took the place of the front and middle sections. I thought I had the wrong cable at first, but I put it in and works fine. There is a different part number for long vs. short bed.

Got a performance rebuild on my Quadrajet... built by Lars Grimsrud
Here are his notes on my carb...

"The carb checked out really well after a few setup modifications and after all the plugged fuel and air passages were chased down... I ran it through all modes of operation from cold-start, hot re-start, idle, and no-load cruise. I also tested for secondary operations and WOT transition. Idle is glass smooth, off-idle response is crisp, and mixtures are right where they should be - see photos attached of your carb running on the test engine with actual air/fuel ratio and idle rpm. I have the A/F set at 14.2:1, which is perfect for today's pump gas, and rpm is at 850 so it will idle with your cam. I have removed the rear pulloff (these are no longer available, and they were not used on the performance application carbs), and I have installed and tested the electric choke per your request - the choke operates perfectly, and was tested on the engine (note the choke wire hooked up in the photo)."

Here's a few pics...

block sanded the epoxy primer on the cab with 180, getting it ready for the 2K primer... will finish up the roof tomorrow and post some pics... I hope to get a good first coat of primer on the cab...

yeah, that Chevy engine is a test engine used for tuning the carb... it's not the engine going in my truck...

My motor will be a 461 Pontiac built from a 400 block by Jim Lehart...

always good times to be had with your Dad! Glad your doing okay from the car wreck..

it's raining here so no updates, and mosquitos are killer so makes wanting to work on the truck a bit of a pain. Maybe I'll go pick up some paint and paint my bezel this weekend!
