Re: 52 GMC Envoy Burb meld/build
The GMPP build they said they changed the frame length to match the wheel base of the 53. Did you do anything for yours?

Using the larger fenders helped us make up the minor difference in the wheelbase. I will try to get a measurement from my 48 Panel, the 52 BurbVoy, & the wife's TBSS just for ****s & grins. |
Re: 52 GMC Envoy Burb meld/build
Sold the 29 F**D yesterday. Ordering more parts for the Burb today!!

This is where the body sits compared to the stock 17 inch Envoy wheel with a mud & snow tire. Planning to use 20's. When the fender was permanently mounted, it was moved out about 1/2 inch. Should be interesting to see how big a tire/wheel combo I can get under it!

Cool! Re-doing the shape of the roof in metal, a ragtop, or a solid plexi roof?

Lets see, Volkswagen cloth rollback, new Caddy Wagon double sunroofs, . . . nope. Sectioning 2-3 inches out. Should give it a chopped look without the actual chopping. Plus, while it is off, I am making a fiberglass mould of it so I have a smooth, paintable headliner. |
Re: 52 GMC Envoy Burb meld/build
BBEEP, Can not wait to see the difference. I thought about putting a sliding rag in my panel truck till I was reading about them leaking. Great build!

1st tail light roughed in. I like the way it follows the contour of the door.

Re: 52 GMC Envoy Burb meld/build
It looks good. Is that the factory envoy lense? I also like the molded in rear bumper

When the body was dipped, there was too much sediment in the dip tank to clean the top. (& yes, will fix the hole in the roof before I do the glass) |
Re: 52 GMC Envoy Burb meld/build
Slick idea for the headliner. I bought a fiberglass one off of EBay but I'm not sure how great it fits. I started fiberglassing some kick panels and it is in the 30's today in MI so it is taking a little time for the resin to set up..

Re: 52 GMC Envoy Burb meld/build
Since I plan to glass the dash, I figure I will only upholster from the windows down. Everything else inside will be painted body color, dash, headliner, window surrounds, pillars, etc.
And originally Marc, I was going to paint it black over the new Camaro Synergy Green Metallic--so love your truck!! |
Re: 52 GMC Envoy Burb meld/build
Did you have it dipped in the Portland area or? I'm pretty sure that somewhere in the build the cab I am putting together will be better off with a trip to the dip tank.
The hole in the roof from the light that was on the truck in it's early life? |

Thanks for the kind words. Mine is a custom mix but I get asked all the time if it is Synergy green.. Marc |

The hole in the roof was from a factory looking vent. I suppose for the passengers on the cot! |

Congratulations on just clocking over 56,001 views BBEEP. It's a great build. So interesting and very adventurous. Certainly not for the faint hearted!

Re: 52 GMC Envoy Burb meld/build
Nixed the idea of painting from below the windows inside up and over the fiberglass headliner. I think it would look good, but create a tin can effect from my stereo . . . I am still going to make a fiberglass headliner while the top is off, but I will upholster it.
(If anyone would like one while I am doing it, let me know. The guy is charging me $250-300) Probably mid January. |
Re: 52 GMC Envoy Burb meld/build
i would like to order a headliner.i could drive to eugene to pick it up.i am about an hour and a half away. let me know when he gets closer to making it. fred

Mounted the running boards last week. Shortened them about 1/4 inch on each end so they wouldn't rub on the fenders. They are also raised about and inch & 1/2 so they are flush with the body--no gap. Interesting thing, we didn't use the stock running board brackets: from the bottom of the Envoy frame is almost exactly the same height from the ground has the boards. Just used square tubing.
(and it is sitting up in the air in the front on jackstands, in case you're wondering . . .) |

BBEEP, Thank you, because I do not think I have mine. And I do not think they came with my heat / air unit either.

Re: 52 GMC Envoy Burb meld/build
I might have some metal ones laying around as I used the plastic vintage air ones. I could use a driver side interior window trim (non vent window) if anyone is intrested in doing some trading....I appoligize in advance if I'm bracking any forum rules (:
