Re: Where's the 3/4 ton love?
Just bought this heap with my brother this afternoon. We were going after a 1955 Apache but the older fella that told us about it was off by 10 years. :waah: Price was very cheap so we figured what the hell. There is a large nice brown rat that does not want to leave. Guess he is a Texas rat now we bought it in OKL and brought him home.

IMO, uncommon sites, a 20 emblem that still has blue and red paint and 16" 2 piece rims. The positive offset of original 8 lug wheels floats the hubcap outwards. 1/2 tons do not have this look unless 17.5" wheels are used.

Sorry not a 60-66 vintage but long and low trucks can still be work trucks. My 2 owner '69 still works every week.

Check this one out Sodly! This one got the love. IMO, the original owner had to be an airline pilot. Very meticulous recreation vehicle owner! This Jimmy has all the bells and whistles, from the factory and from the owner https://www.proxibid.com/1966-GMC-Pi...ation/67983999

Here is one for you Sodly! 3/4 ton's rarely get restored to this calibur, this one is a treat to see. Not to mention, low production numbers in the early 60's.https://oldchevytrucks.com/blog/2022...custom-pickup/ Side note, this photo shows the dramatic styling changes of the 60's. Carryover styling of the late 50's disappeared to the fresher styling of the mid 60's. Its amazing what a restyled hood, windshield and grill did to the styling of this series trucks.

Many similarities between this '62 C 20 and your '61 Apache 20. They both have the V 37 chrome front bumper and hubcap option plus the molding option in addition to the Custom option.

Re: Where's the 3/4 ton love?
Here is my C20. I use it most days and it isn't pampered. What it lacks in highway gearing in the eaton diff, it makes up for with it's terrible mileage.

Re: Where's the 3/4 ton love?
A 13 year old thread...showcasing the 3/4 tonners. How cool!
I found an AZ '66 C20 Custom with factory air and a Barden rear bumper. Got it from the grandson of the original owner. Not a spot of rust...anywhere. I'm in the process of getting it back to close to original, but on somewhat of a budget. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/pw...-no?authuser=0 It was repowered with a solid and strong Chevy 350 and TH350 and subtle dual exhaust. I have an oak bed ready to install with the original bed rails refinished. The 'broken back' look is exaggerated in the pic b/c the rear fenders and bed were sitting on the frame rails when it was taken (it was sitting 1" lower since the wood hadn't been installed). Also the original rear cab mounts are saggy so are getting replaced. I'll also be returning to the factory Turquoise with white top. I agree with those of you who like the original 'pizza cutter' steelies, in fact I like the old industrial looking bias ply look as well. I found a set of 8.75 x 16.5 commercial "Highway" bias ply for cheap when compared to Coker. I'm sure the quality is average at best, as it took a lot of lead to balance them, but I'm not hitting the fast lane on I-95 anytime soon. I do have a question about the silver boxes that are in the rear fenders of some C20s. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/pw...-no?authuser=0 Is this unique to the Camper Special? What is the box called and what's its purpose? |
