Well, it's on jack stands again. Thinknking of upgrading to a 40 spline rear end. Slicks will be ordered along with another set of rear rims. Not sure, but I'd love to go with a big double beadlock setup for the slicks. But man, MONEY!

I'm going to be doing a little bit of rewiring in the cab, reworking the center console, probably getting a new steering column, dynamite is on its way to finish laying down the floors. The lizard skin just didn't work as good as I hoped.

I got the grill torn out and back together. I sent off the front bars to the chromer. Now I have all the sheet metal loosened up to get things to align a bit better. I seem to run into road blocks with every adjustment I make, a few more days of messing with it, it should come together.

I got rid of the Holley fuel pump after finding that's what I had issues with for my fuel starving issue. I ended up going with a magnafuel in line, so now I'm good for about 2000 hp. Lol

Along with the interior work being done, I'll be cutting up the dash a little bit to try and make a cage fit in as tight as possible. So, hopefully over winter, I get get it sent off for that.

I've been horrible with posting new pictures ever since I moved, but I'll try and get around to it, the photobucket thing just takes so much time!

I purchased a new grill from classic parts and was more than displeased with it. Not a single bar was bent the same, the ends were all out of wack, there were fine scratches in the chrome, and I would have had to beat the ends up pretty good just to get the grill ends away from gouging the fenders. I was pretty upset after spending $400 for the grill, so I called classic parts saying I wasn't happy with the quality of it. The lady then proceeded to tell me that quality is an opinion. Lol WHAT. so after bickering around finally getting them to give me a return label, I got all my money back.

Then I went to the factory grill, and I tore It out and disassembled it to get the front bars chromed. 40 rivets later, I had the bars off. A few weeks later, I had the bars back, and they look awesome! I still have some panel alignment to mess with before I toss it back in.

http://i133.photobucket.com/albums/q...psil1sbxxh.jpg

Another thing I addressed and had re-chromed, was the tail light brackets. I cut the rivets, and welded them solid making 1 piece, and as small as possible. Then, I drilled out the welded on bolts on the tail light housings, and used a stainless carriage bolt with the nuts on the inside of the housing. Just something to clean it up a little more.

Progress is done until the week of Christmas as we're going trucking for 4 weeks straight this go around. But next, I should have all the sheet metal lined up a bit better, grill in, exhaust leaks fixed, and dynamat in. Then I'll start planning on the rollcage.

Looking good. Details are what makes the biggest difference. The tail light mods look great.

Re: my 50 build... why not?

Thanks guys. I've only had 2 days since beginning of December to touch the pickup. Kinda aggrivating, but I'm staying busy trucking, so I can't complain. I eneed up getting all of the sheetmetal bolted back together and fitting VERY good compared to where it was. I went though my whole box of dynamat, and need to order one more to cover everything. I got all my wire in so I can clean up under the console a bit. I'm planning on finding some different seats, and gauges. Then hope for interior.

I'm also selling my nova and 3n1 cnc setup to fund my house I hope to get started on this year. Always something going on.

Re: my 50 build... why not?

Well, got the grille in and it turned out great. Sioux plating in sioux city did the work.

http://i133.photobucket.com/albums/q...psku3payyn.jpg

Got the 2 boxes of dynamat used up. Now, I'm ordering seat belts, a vented battery box, and a new steering wheel. Plans are to attempt the rocky mountian race week. It's basically a drag week with less rules. I'm gonna run in the 12.00 street class just so I don't have to put a cage in it. That should make it a little less stressful. Then, next year if I really want to go crazy with things, I'll put one in. I just can't justify 5 grand for a clean installed chromoly cage right now. Here's a little video on 5-6lbs. Hazing the tires in all 3 gears.

https://m.facebook.com/story.php?sto...4&id=500727933

Here in a month or so, I'm gonna strap it to the dyno and see what 17-20 lbs makes and get a good solid tune on everything inbetween. So excited. This thing is crazy already.

sick. yeah 5-6k for a cage thats more than my daily driver is worth!!

Re: my 50 build... why not?

Yeah, MINE TOO! lol I could get it done for about half that, but then it's not hidden, things aren't done with taste and cleanliness in mind. 417 motorsports is who I would have do it. Their work is like art.

I'm going to order a different steering column as the summit one in there now, is cheap quality as it gets. About 2-3" of side to side slop between the top and bottom of the column, and that doesn't sound too fun at 140 mph.
Ordered a steering wheel and horn button to replace the old gt grant.
Got a battery box in order
Switching to 3.00 rear gears to drop cruising rpm and take advantage of the turbo lower end.
Tossing in a racing harness as there isn't anything in it yet.

And lastly, I gotta get a radio in it. Any suggestions for a decent single din with Bluetooth?

Nice ride and the video is awesome
What do you plan on using for the Harness? and how are you mounting with out a cage?
I have been thinking of a Y harness but not sure yet.

Re: my 50 build... why not?

The lower pinchweld on the back of the cab behind the seats will be the mounting point for the two uppers, the two lowers will be mounted along with the back seat frame bolts, and I'm unsure on the crotch belt yet. All through bolts will go through an 1/4" plate. It should work just fine until a cage gets installed IF, a cage gets installed. I'll come up with something and be sure to post pictures.

Well, gotta love photobucket. I was just getting ready to post up all my latest updates, then I found that photobucket is holding my pictures basically for ransom. Wants 400 bucks to show them all. Wtf!!! What site do you guys use??

Re: my 50 build... why not?

I still can't get a bunch of pictures from last year up. I tried uploading them by adding the attachments on here and it says no security key.

Well, as for an update, i set the pickup on medium wastegate spring pressure, and that got me to 761whp @ 16.5 lbs on a heartbreaker dyno. Played around a bit on the street with some drag radials, then went to the track for a couple 1/8th miles. After sorting out some things and only time for 2 passes, I ran a 6.40 leaving on the foot brake. A month later, I got it ready for the raceweek. Hands down one of the biggest bucket list items I've ever wanted to do. Goal was to run a 9 second quarter, and complete the week. And both of those I was able to check off.

First day, I ran my 12 second slip just to turn in and then stuck my foot the whole way down the track and cracked off a 9.87@140 my very first 1/4 mile ever!

Here's a day 1 coverage video. You can see the pickup in the beginning as he is talking, then the 9 second pass is at 5:20.

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=cowi8NKH1nA

After day 1, we camped out in the hotel, woke up at 5 and packed up the pickup and hit the road to Denver. We all had a route to follow and hitting checkpoints along the way. It was brutal with no wind and temperatures well over 100 degrees. No a/c, a 200 degree trans and engine below your feet, and a lot of hot water. My dynamat even melted and stuck to my buddies sandals. We made it to golden Colorado at a sonic, then I pulled out 3 jets out of the front of the carb as it was running very rich. Made It to the hotel, and unpacked everything again till morning. Woke up around 6, stopped at Walmart for a few supplies, then headed to the track and set up, swapped the tires, and got the first 12 second slip handed in again. Let it cool down, then went back for the all out pass again. Ran a 9.90@138!

Here's day 2 2:15, and 7:45 is the pass.

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=BskInGN-hJM

After the race, we went and grabbed some wings and hit to the mountains. Temperatures were hot again and trans was getting hot alongside with it. We had to pull over many times. Got rolling after a few hours on some skinny two lanes and got a flat tire. Somewhere we picked up a bolt in the radial. Switched out the radials for the drag radials and finished the drive to pueblo for another night of sleep.

Day 3 we had a little relax time to check things over, pulled the carb off, cleaned it as I had a sticking needle and seat, and added 2 more jets. Racing started in the afternoon, got my 12 second slip turned in again, the tried for the 9 second pass. Managed a 10.17@135, and was a little rich. Didn't wanna waste more time and risk braking anything, so called it quits. Went back to the hotel for the morning drive to great bend Kansas.

Day 3 video

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=O-NlhjzY_Do

Day 4 drive was again brutal as it gets. Made it about to Scott city ks and everyone was running real low on e85. We had to make a little detour to pick up a spare tire about 50 miles out of the way. Made it to the hotel again, showered and started on the cold beers.

Made it to the track the next day with only about 5 gallons left. One of the guys in my group had his dad bring down a couple hundred gallons of ethanol from Nebraska for everyone. Got my 12 second slip again, then tried for my 9. Got a 10:24@120. It started breaking up, so I changed the plugs and added another jet, then got a 10:14@136. Called it quits and headed for Nebraska. Just got out of the track, and noticed my oil pressure was low. Putted up to Kearney, stopped at orileys, swapped out the electric gauge for a mechanical one, and it read fine. Wheew!

Day 4 @ 9:15

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=jvtoDI5PW_4

Day 5, washed it up for the first time, headed to the track, got my 12 in, and again tried for an all out pass. Just shifted into 3rd and it felt weak so I let out. Got to the end, turned around and it started knocking. So from that, I knew I did have a oil pressure problem.

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=nNkxBb7TPrY

After I got home, pulled the motor out figuring my thrust was wiped. Pulled the pan off and metal... everywhere. Lol. Thrust was fine. Ruled it out to hard braking and acceleration with a stock F-body oil pan. Turns out it's a fairly common problem.

All in all, it was the most fun thing I've ever done, made some great friends, and created a lifelong yearly event. I highly recommend going to watch this every year. The people's stories and cars are unlike anything I've ever experienced.

The motor is almost rebuilt now. Ended up with a little higher compression pistons, new Callie's rods, and a forged Callie's forged crank. Transmission I had gone through to look things over. Added a billet input shaft, and a few other little things for reliability. Lastly, I took the truck to 417motorsports in Springfield Missouri to have a 8.50 cage and a parachute mount installed. I should have all the parts back in February. Still need a different converter, upgrade to 35 spline rear end, and add sommore datalogging to watch over things. Hoping to see over 1000 to the tire, and run an 8 second quarter this year. Goals!!!

Re: my 50 build... why not?

Haven't updated this in a long while. Kinda took a year off doing anything crazy with it. Been changing a few things though.

Upped the boost to 25lbs, messed up one head as I didn't pull enough timing on it, so, I went with a nice set of trick flow "fast as cast" 220s. Got a new PTC torque converter that I could already tell a difference as it was working much better than the old Freakshow one I had in there before.

Ended up putting a cage in it. Brought it down to 417 Motorsports in Springfield MO. They couldn't have done a better job. Tucked the front dash bars TIGHT to the dash, and got the door bars as low as they could. Everything is tigged, and he even made a custom bezel that the rear bars go through the Fab to clean things up.

http://i133.photobucket.com/albums/q...psf4fewnxu.jpg

http://i133.photobucket.com/albums/q...pshkgv1vwl.jpg

I rewired the entire pickup with a new leash electronics street strip board, and added a Haltech vms-t for the computer. Now I have traction control that works off driveshaft speed, and a g-meter. As long as things are in positive Gs, the boost will keep paying it on. And now it datalogs for just about everything. Rpm, driveshaft speed, water temp, oil temp, water pressure, oil pressure, transmission line pressure, converter pressure, boost, timing, fuel pressure, afrs, and probably more that I can't think about. Also, I added an IQ3 dash to the console so I can read all of this data in real time. Pretty crazy how advanced this is and still has a carburetor. Lol

http://i133.photobucket.com/albums/q...psbmypitev.jpg

That's kinda where I'm sitting at now,. Ended up upgrading to 35 splines and an aluminum bolt thru center section and an S-trac. Just gotta find the time to finish putting it all together again. Shooting for around 1050whp, and an easy 8second quarter mile this year.
