My brother-in-law got that many years ago (1990ish?) on one of his business trips to Cape Canaveral. He gave it to me as a gift. It sat unmounted in my stash of good stuff until recently.

I looked at RonJon's site and they don't have any frames currently listed in their catalog.

Maybe one might pop up on eBay, that's all I can suggest.

I'm not a big RonJon fan cuz it's east coast surf stuff but I like the look of it on my truck so there it sits.

CALIFORNIA YOM PLATES

I decided to give myself a Christmas treat this year and got these vintage unrestored yellow on black plates for my truck. After many months of searching, I finally found what I wanted on eBay earlier this month. Today, Christmas Eve, I went to the DMV and registered them in acordance with the California YOM (Year Of Manufacture) program ( http://www.dmv.ca.gov/pubs/reg_hdbk/ch21/ch21_36.htm ).

They look a hell of a lot better than the current style plates, and they emphasize the classic looks of this truck. It's 1969 all over again !

Hi Trev, truck is running real good, it's still my DD. I haven't found the time to do any write ups on work I've done recently. I pulled the intake manifold and cleaned and resealed it, put in a new hard line for the oil pressure gauge, and sealed another leak at the oil dipstick. Then I put in all new spark plug wires using the stock routing, painted the valve covers and some brackets, and installed the AC compressor brackets. Always there are projects on tap, just need to find time to do them, that's all.

Hope all is well with you and your truck.

COWL VENT TRASH GUARD

I had a little time this morning so I thought I'd add this to my Project thread. This was a simple project and took less than an hour.

I've been wanting to install a trash guard for quite a while. The leaves are beginning to fall now and I don't want to go through another season picking leaves out of the cowl grate.

The guard comes in two flavors; stainless steel and painted black. I went with the stainless version from Classic Industries for longevity and looks.

Hi Jim, just ran across your thread - very cool. I bought a '68 GMC Custom last summer and continue to play with it, so your post is very informational. She has 106kmi original paint and interior with 355 Chevy, L-79/041xhds. etc. Vintage 60/70 factory High Performance with th400/Dana posi. Like those wheels - will try to find some... Re: Jim's 1969 Custom/20

Jim,

I just read through your thread. I appreciate the time and energy you took to write up your experiences in such detail so that the rest of us may see and learn that much more easily. My truck has been sitting for the last two years as I am stationed overseas right now, but I am due to return to the states this summer. You have inspired me to add more care and time in my write ups that I will be doing in the future. I figure if I want to make a quality write up, I will have to slow down a bit and be a bit more methodical and deliberate in my project planning and implementation (I’ve had a few problems in the past with Slow and Deliberate vs Fast and Hard :) ).

Anyhow, great to see you enjoying your truck, because that’s what it’s all about.

Best Regards,
Travis
