LS1Nova71, I am in the middle of hooking up DBW cruise I have the HND-2 switch from Dakota Digital and also have LED tail lights.
The issue I am having at the moment is the orange light on the switch stays lit (on) all the time. If you press off it wil go out for a split second then back on, I have the pic below hope this helps on my issue.

When I press the brake pedal the relay clicks but nothing turns the light off on the switch.

Thanks
Mark

Re: LS factory cruise control hook up

I'm not super familiar with that switch, but do you have the instructions for it? Also, it appears you have both terminals on the normally closed side of the brake switch hooked to the same wire?

Are you referring to the "hot" side of switch?
If so,that was the way the switch was wired for the tail lights.
The orange (power wire from panel) went to one terminal then jumpered to the other. It did look weird never really looked more into it. Below I have attached what info I have from Dakota Digital The switch wiring and then they sent me the led wiring and it has me even more confused. No instructions though, they assume you are using the switch with the DD cruise unit.

LS1Nova72, are you still selling the column levers with cruise? I tried to send a private message, but it looks like your inbox is full.

Wow, how did I miss this thread!?? I am always late to the game! If you have anymore of these cruise levers, put me down for one.

Re: LS factory cruise control hook up

Well after finding a broke wire in my four wire switch harness. Running a solenoid for a ground for led brake lights. This easy 4 wire hookup is kicking my butt. Only thing left is hooking up a tech 2 and verifying my ecu has cruise enabled. 220 mile rides back and forth would be more comfortable with cruise.

Do you have both brake switch contacts hooked up? Also, what kind of cruise switch are you using?

Re: LS factory cruise control hook up

Not sure if this was covered or not. Will a cruise module from a 90s Chevy truck work the same? They look the same. Just want to check before buying it and wasting my money. Thanks. Going in a 91 square body suburban with a cable throttle body 5.3.

No problem. Looked at eBay and found one that says it will work in s10 and Silverado. Only issue I had was I could not clip it into the throttle cable holder cause if I did the end would not reach the throttle peg where it clips on to. But I got it to work. Great write up. Mine in installed into a 91 and I was able to use most of the factory wiring that went to the tbi cruise. Only had to run 3 new wires.

Sorry been sick and just getting back to attacking this. 4 wire 82/83 c10 switch. But after hooking up tech 2 due to using van ecu no cruise function shows. Hopefully that will be resolved this evening.

DBC or DBW? Because a cable throttle body wont show cruise info on a scanner. I mean it shows some, but it doesnt really matter what it says in a swap.

Re: LS factory cruise control hook up

Let me run this by you then. Maybe I am doing the brake switch wrong too
The stalk is easy. Power in. Three wires to TAC

Brake switch:

12+ in
12+ out when brake applied to lights

12+ in
0 out to TAC when brake applied

I know on LS tech you used a micro relay to create load with LEDs. I have leds
Are you wiring it to the brake light side or the TAC side? It was a little hard in the pic on the site to see what pins you wired too. But I think I got the relay right, but now questioning what/how it should be wired to

Re: LS factory cruise control hook up

On an 07 Silverado with tech 2 in hand it shows:
Stoplamp brake pedal switch: released
Cruise release brake pedal: released

On mine it's both showing active.

Aside from that I can show that my cruise stalk is functional and cruise is in my ecu.
So it a brake switch/wiring issue.

I think you have your brake inputs backwards. You need 12v to the TAC with the brakes applied, and you need 12v to the PCM at all times, but NOT when the brakes are applied. I wired the relay directly to the cold side of the brake switch, using just the coil side of the relay, terminal 85 and the other side 86, going to ground. You should hear the relay "click" when the brakes are applied.

The "released" status on your TechII, was that showing with the brakes applied? It shoud be the opposite if so, and should match the brake pedal, so when you apply the brakes it should say "applied" and when you release the pedal it should say "released".

I will revisit this. Was away from the truck all weekend. I did have the relay wired to the cold side, click when brakes applied. Pulled it to check/deal with resolving tech 2 status

Yes sir. No brakes applied and showing applied. Step on brake it shows released.
Determined to figure it out this week.

That was it. Had TCC and PCM brake wires backwards. Full functioning cruise with LEDs. Thanks ls1nova.

Re: LS factory cruise control hook up

Anyone happen to have a part number on that 4 pin brake switch?

ls1nova71 02-25-2018 11:14 AM

Re: LS factory cruise control hook up

Part number depends on what brand you want, but you can look it up on RockAuto. Just look it up for a 1981 camaro with cruise control, theyre about 10 bucks for an AC Delco one. Your local auto parts store should have them too.

Re: LS factory cruise control hook up

Re: 4000 PPM. I found out my cruise works fine over 75-80 mph. 65-70, it will come on for a little while then shut off. I can't remember if I connected it to my T56 or my PCM (it's been a few years). If it's the PCM, would I need to get it reprogrammed or make sure it's putting out 4000? Wouldn't 4000 PPM be 4000 if you were going 1 mph or 100 mph?

ls1nova71 04-24-2018 05:24 PM

Re: LS factory cruise control hook up

It does sound like you dont have a 4000ppm signal, and if I recall correctly, the T56 uses a 2000ppm signal sensor. I'm pretty sure it can be changed in the tune though I have not personally done it. A 4000ppm signal is a 4000ppm signal no matter how fast you are going, but thats not the point, GM made them to not set below something like 30mph, so if you're getting half that signal, the PCM thinks youre going half the speed, so you would need to be going at least 60mph for it to work.
