Here’s some more pics I took earlier on how close the 67-72 K5-20 stuff fits the Longhorn frame. That's a 72 2wd Big Block mount/stand just sitting in it's position on top for a visual on motor placement. :D

Time to do a little more cab work while the frame is waiting to get straightened. Got the dash pretty much welded up and will start working the floor next. Soaked the front shackles in WD40 for a week or so and then pressed out the old bushings, easy peezy. Also brought the axles back in to start messing with those.

And yes Misses 7dee2 is getting her way and we picked up were we left off last year putting in the front & side yard.

It’s back and it’s not bent anymore! :ww: The frame shop was successful straightening the Longhorn frame. They had the same trouble we were having but put some heat to it too get it too stay put. I think if we had kept at it we would have broke it or ended up with the improper repair (fubar).

Great news!

Also, digging the tow rig :metal:, but I think you knew that

Thanks for the compliment Jim, I knew that. If someone can appreciate an old work truck Blue is pretty hard not to like. Probably the most original 67-72 I've ever owned.

I was sweating it! Just in case we had lined up one in LA from Adam (Budnickguy) great deal somebody should buy this one from him. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=660849

Ha, just my luck some more local ones will start to show up now, found another around St. George, UT.

Did I mention one local frame place quoted $600 and couldn't get me in for another 4wks. :bs:

Got a break from our current landscaping project and did some more work to the cab floor. Seats are mocked up and floor brace brackets are in.

Don’t have a lot of progress to report but we did manage to weld up a few more holes in the cab floor. Metal work on the cab is pretty much done! :ww:

A little paint, some pressure wash and I'll be able to touch up the undercoating. Looking forward to flipping the cab upright it likes to titer a little in this position.

Can’t wait for the 2nd round of mockup with this frame. Removed all the rear hangers and finished getting the cab ready for a pressure wash.

We've been knee deep (literally) in landscaping. Want to get the yard work out of the way before the heat of summer. Can't wait to get back on the K30 you have been killing it on the Red Herring Jim, thanks for checking in!

That's normal

Are you planning to fish-plate that area before you install the shackle carriers?

No the plan is to just weld it up and then punch some more holes for our 67-72 style hangers.

Some ongoing research (aka obsession) did yield another Longhorn that was converted just that way 30 years ago. Pretty neat old time capsule, had some serious thoughts and correspondence with the owner about buying it! All in all the old truck looks to have held up very well with these mods and is very, very similar to my build. It’s mostly 67-72 with some square body stuff (Front & TC cross members, front sway bar) the only part I really don’t like is the rear suspension, those are some really loooonnnggg u-bolts! The rear sway is a super stout motor home piece.

If you haven’t seen it yet here’s the latest eBay auction for the truck this one ends Thursday. http://www.ebay.com/itm/221772717514

So enough about that craziness my plan is to stay the course and build our truck.

That Longhorn is a super nice truck, just priced too high for me. I had half a mind to try and buy it until I say the auction creeping up and the new BIT price. Nice work on your frame too!

You know I agree but if it was mine to sell I'd detail the crap out of it (include a Highlander seat cover) and probably ask more!

Thanks for the compliment D! Here are some pics after the grind.
