Thanks for the compliment. I'm glad you received it. I was a little worried with all the international restrictions being enacted. I am still here building and shipping orders. I work alone so the distancing mandate isn't too hard to follow  Yes I am ready to get back to some normalcy but I fear that may be a ways off still.

Hey Captain,

I am kinda new to this site. I just picked up a 63 Suburban.

I will be installing front and rear Wilwood disks on a new chassis along with a Caddy 472/TH400 combo to replace the stock 6 cylinder.

Attached is a photo of my current firewall/MC, I just want to verify that I am ordering the correct MC adapter of yours.

Also, do I just PayPal you for it? I apologize if you have all this info in this thread, but I'm going through 17 pages and trying to work!!!

* And one more "Also" - Do I need to lengthen the pushrod for the install?

I want to purchase a booster and MC from CPP

EDIT: I just saw your email address and sent you an email also.

Thanks for your time, Eric.

Captain,

Well it has been just about 13 months since I purchased your BBB (Brake Booster Bracket) for my 63 Suburban.

I am finally getting around to doing the suspension and motor swap.

I am converting over to 5x5 disks front and rear.

I will be sourcing the booster and MC from CPP, not sure what size that I will be running - 8"? but what do I need to ask for as I am not sure if the bracket came with paperwork but if so it is long gone!

Thanks!

Re: Power Brake Booster Adapter Bracket

All of my booster brackets come with a list of compatible boosters including part numbers. If you are buying a booster from CPP it should work as most of the aftermarket universal boosters have the same 3-3/8" x 3-3/8" mounting stud pattern. There are a couple of the compatible factory boosters in post #1 of this for sale thread and in post #183 on page 8 is a list of several more.

Thanks Captain! I thought that it came with a list that I am sure that I placed somewhere!

Thanks for the update! Eric.

If I purchase your bracket, do I need to drill a hole 1 inch lower on my brake pedal ?

Captainfab 08-10-2020 10:00 PM

Re: Power Brake Booster Adapter Bracket

You do not have to, but most people like the feel of the pedal better with lowering the attachment hole 1" from original. The angle of the booster bracket keeps the pushrod fairly straight when you do.

Re: Power Brake Booster Adapter Bracket

For a drum/drum braking system you will want a booster and master for a '67-'70 C10. Or if your truck is a 3/4 ton you will want those for a C20.

Does Anyone Have A Part Number For a Black Dual Diaphragm Power Booster and Master Setup That Will Work With This Bracket For My 69 C10?

It Looks Like a Great Piece and Wanna Use It

Do you realize that every one of my booster brackets comes with a list of compatible boosters including some part numbers. That does include some of the universal aftermarket boosters in black. Most of the aftermarket universal boosters are compatible with all of my booster brackets. Also this thread is for the '63-'66 booster bracket. You will need the one that I fabricate for the '67-'72's.

This for sale thread is for the '63-'66 standard booster bracket. This will not work on a '67-'72. You will need this booster bracket if you are looking for a standard booster bracket as opposed to the booster bracket with the hydraulic clutch conversion.

CaptainFab,

I recently purchased a 1965 Suburban with standard master cylinder (front disc/rear drum) and I was looking to upgrade the brake system to a power booster setup. I was curious if you knew if I'm able to use the OEM style booster setup (front disc/rear drum) off of my 1968 C-10 in conjunction with your bracket setup on my new 65?

Re: Power Brake Booster Adapter Bracket

Captainfab,

Received bracket, got it mocked up, painted and installed. Worked out perfect! Only thing I had to do was leave bracket to firewall little bit loose until booster was installed to front of bracket and then fully tighten firewall bolts. This way it didn't cause the outer metal to booster to spring outwards pulling bolt holes farther apart. Fits my 67-72 booster/master cylinder setup perfectly!

Thanks again for a premium made piece!

Re: Power Brake Booster Adapter Bracket

seeking some input on the right booster to use with this bracket. its a 71 C10 LWB with a blown LS3....kinda need good brakes.

I have a 93 s10 reman booster now which seems to be either bottoming out at ~1/4 pedal throw, or is not strong enough to be of any assistance past that point. The pedal feels like its assisted to that point, then feels like manual brakes where you have to truly stand on it to get additional stopping force.

booster is currently a 93 s10 4.3 V6, Cardone 54-71152....10.8" single booster
Master is a Wilwood 1 1/8" w/adjustable prop valve...currently back all the way off....still getting strong force to the rear since the rear rotors are so large
front c5 calipers w/14" rotors
rear mustang calipers w/14" rotors
electronic vacuum pump, known working well and pulls about 28"Hg
stainless lines
fresh fluid and both standard bled and reverse bled(previously thought i had air)

The calipers come on their respective cars with a 15/16" master...so i understand that the pedal will be harder than 'stock' because of the increased master size....was trying to limit the long pedal i was getting with the 15/16" master.

Any input would be helpful. will not go with hydroboost....want to stay vacuum. Is there a chance mine is bad? go do larger or dual 9" booster? ANythign ic an do to futher troubleshoot?

How did you lengthen the booster pushrod? Could the pushrod be binding or rubbing on something?

I cut the round portion off the booster, then threaded it and use a 2" threaded coupling along with the manual pushrod...makes for a slip joint but still keeps it aligned which allows me to adjust the length without much trouble.

There was a sheet of paper which came with the bracket....had the applicable options for the boosters....would any one of them be better suited than the single 10.8"

Re: Power Brake Booster Adapter Bracket

A dual diaphragm booster is always better than a single diaphragm, but I do not know if that will solve your issue. I gather that you did not have this issue with the 15/16" bore master?

I have been chasing an underperforming braking system since installing the rotors and calipers. I started with the 15/16" master, but was getting this long travel and nearly no strong breaking. So i moved to the 1 1/8" to make up what i understood to be a volume vs pedal travel issue....but the pedal is performing the same but at a shorter travel than before.....so now ill try a dual 10.9 booster and see what happens.

I am at a loss but ill get there I guess....just keep throwong money at it right lol

Is your booster pushrod connected in the original hole in the brake pedal or did you drill a new hole 1" higher?

The original hole....was i supposed to drill the pedal itself? Wouldnt higher change it from 6:1 to 7:1...which would be bad for the travel but good for assist?

Re: Power Brake Booster Adapter Bracket

hoping to get the booster on this weekend....its a parts store Duralast 54-71046....dual 10.9", from a 93 2500 w/vacuum assist.

i'll report back on how it works out for me.
