Sure. Why not? I had a 79 silverado and the paint was well worn. I like that look.

Really interested to find and read through this thread. I recently bought my 64 C-10 in the UK. It had just been imported having spent most of the last 50 years in the Dallas area.
I contacted the woman who was the last owner on the Title who said she sold it in January 2014 when it looked like this.......

Whoever had it next between January and July got it looking like this......

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a1...ps775a01ed.jpg

and I've changed it a bit more since with a bit of pinstriping.......

I love the look, I know it's not everyone's taste but the truck is rock solid original metal all over so the option is always there for a 'traditional' respray if I ever go off the paint finish - don't think I will though ;)

Thanks just wanted to make it look as if they had Ben on the truck all its life, they where shiny aluminum off a 80s truck.

My wife asked me to build her a raised garden bed. The patina is real, the truck was a 1.5 ton farm truck, the bed was 300 miles away. Then I found the appropriate tow . . .

I love the idea of cars as yard art. Here's are one of my favorites.

Those planters are great!! I had an orange 99 Camaro rotting in the yard not long ago, but I dont think it would make a cool planter like the trucks do.

Just stared mine. Green Scotch Brite wd40 colors were all there added some flat black but sanded most off just to fill the low spots.
