Re: My build thread.. 63 LS powered C10
Martin takes awhile sometimes. He's SLAMMED with guys making requests for custom cams. He responded to my request with a 3 paragraph response about what cam he chose and why....and I'm just some nobody on the internet. My brother had the same experience with Martin, but it just took a bit longer for a response.
LilJohn on the other hand, never responded at all. |
Re: My build thread.. 63 LS powered C10
I have talked to Martin, Pat, and a few others. Most of them seem to forget that I have a large stall and could not care about power under the curve. I have yet to see any of their cams carry a 400+ CI motor well in to the 7k RPM band which is what I am doing (7,500-7,600). A motor needs overlap to do that, yet they seem stuck on 25-30* of overlap max.
Here is a great example of a cam I think Pat and Martin would not design, yet look at the power it makes and RPM it carries with 430ci. Cam is a 257/272 .630/.600 lift, 109lsa 105icl. I have yet to see Pat or Martin put something on a 105icl let alone a 109lsa. http://ls1tech.com/forums/dynamomete...o-results.html Now, I am not bagging on them, but neither of them seem to do max effort deals. Either that or they don't share them. |
Re: My build thread.. 63 LS powered C10
Fair enough. That 430 inch LS3 is definitely getting it done.
However, I think that Martin and LilJohn cater more to the turbo crowd, than the NA crowd. Martin spec'd the cam in this car. Very, very simple 370/S480 combo with 3.08 gears. It's not "max effort" but it's cooking on a street driven, bulletproof combo. http://ls1tech.com/forums/forced-ind...-build-52.html http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e1...psf0ecd6d1.jpg http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...&v=KtFAGr8dVxI |
Re: My build thread.. 63 LS powered C10
I need to get some pics up, but I am putting together the 9" now.
Yukon through bolt center Yukon locker (since it is still street driven) 3.90 gears 35 spline axles Still a 5x5 pattern Wilwood 4 piston caliper drag disks Hopefully have it together before the end of April. May tends to have good racing weather at Sac. |
Re: My build thread.. 63 LS powered C10
Only 3.90 gear ?? tire height??

Re: My build thread.. 63 LS powered C10
With the 4.56 and 30" radial, I went through the traps on the 100hit at 7,250rpm and 132mph. On this run:
I picked up 8.5mph to the 1/8 and only 5mph at the 1/4. 8* timing pulled which is pretty conservative for a 100 hit Average AFR was rich at .76 lambda which IMO is rich for E85. I like .80 It was a bit richer on the top end due to INJ Duty going up as MAP went up. I only feel comfy running it to 7,600 out the back door and have a lot of N20 to add to it. Sooo.. I think it needed a much taller gear :) |
Re: My build thread.. 63 LS powered C10
well you are running 11. up to 11.4 at .800 I would shoot for .875 myself .. You are running a bias on map to DC?? or did you target a rich AFR at higher KPA? I would think that once you drop the hammer the KPA should be in the 100 % or at least 95%+ for the entire pull. But then I am not looking at your AFR table either .. with the taller gear the load should hit the wall right out the gate

Re: My build thread.. 63 LS powered C10
Steve.. this is e85 not gas, hence the richer lambda. I will get it to .80 and then try .81 and .82..
On motor it sees about 97 kpa on bottle it goes to 100-101 kpa. I just need to lean out the higher kpa some. |
