Re: Serpentine belt conversions
I haven't been on in a while and just ran across this post while looking for a serpentine drive setup. I subscribed so maybe we'll hear from tll74 pretty soon. I'm also interested in buying this setup.

Re: Serpentine belt conversions
Yes. Any SBC with threaded bolt holes in the heads. I have one on my old 307ci and one on my 406ci.
Voltage sensing wire from alternator should go to the junction block near the battery. This wire senses voltage loss and tell the alt to bump voltage. |
Re: Serpentine belt conversions
I have a question about using a mechanical fan. I have a '70 C-10 with a 350, and would like to use a mechanical fan and clutch after the conversion. The 1970 C-10 has a 17" fan. I got the conversion parts a few months ago and am about ready to do the conversion, but the serpentine parts have a 19.5" diameter fan. Since the fan rotates the opposite direction from the non-serpentine system, I can't use my original fan. I'd like to use the 1970 fan shroud, so I'd like a 17" fan (only reverse direction from the original). Has anyone done this? Any recommended fan?

Re: Serpentine belt conversions
Just finished getting mine all together. Went on a long stop and start drive on a 100deg day and never got to 200 F. AC isn't charged yet though.
I used 17" Derale reverse fan (#DER-17917 at summit) used a Hayden reverse clutch from a 1992 K1500 (#2734 from Rock Auto) I had to drill out the holes in the fan a bit larger for the bolts that connect to the clutch, but not so much to worry. I trimmed my 1969 AC Fan Shroud about 3/4" and the fan sticks out about 1/2" Hope this helps |

You should be able to use a TBI 305 Caprice fan and clutch.
