Re: '60 GMC Suburban (Project D-Daddy)

Well boys, I've lost all steam on this old girl. I think my focus is shifting on projects I want to have and I'm thinking of selling the suburban. I have an ad up currently in Portland Craigslist to feel it out. I will be making an ad for our classifieds shortly. I'm just a little burnt out on it and could use the money for other projects.

I really know what you are saying.. Mine has just stalled. A little more body work but it is still only partially painted. Time and money, money and time...AND it takes that constant forward movement.

It's a pretty Burb. You have done well.

Re: '60 GMC Suburban (Project D-Daddy)

I'm still hemming and hawing over this. Not many responses on my CL ad, more than likely because I priced it a little high, kind of on purpose...haha. A big part of me doesn't want to sell it yet. I am away from home so I haven't been able to make an ad for the board.

Re: '60 GMC Suburban (Project D-Daddy)

Well boys, it's done. The new owner drove her away tonight. I feel ok about it. I got my asking price, which was a little high, so that is great. I have so many other projects that need my attention, especially my '78 short box. So, thanks for all the help and advise and criticism and what have you. You guys are great, but now that I no longer own a 60-66, I guess you'll find me mostly in the 73-87 forum. Thanks everyone!

I hope you turned the new owner on to our forum so we can continue to see the old girl grow in her glory. My 60 feels like it lost a sibling...:whine:

Cort, Thanks for all the photos, posts, stories, and build ideas on this GMC Suburban. You have given us Suburbanites much to consider.

Look forward to the work you will do on the 78 Diesel Shortbed.

You've been here and helping out for a long time now brother! Thanks for all the interest and support!

P.S. I still have the 57-60 F*rd super duty hood scoop. AND! I had the grille of it chrome plated. Not sure what to do with it now....

Yes, it is. His name is John, and he first saw the 'burb at Rose City Round up this year.

Thanks brother. The guy was super nice but he didn't seem like a huge 60-66 fan. He didn't know much. I tried as hard as I could to convince him that no matter what anyone says, the V6 GMC is a keeper!

I'm going to keep hassling you to finish your burb now!!!

Thanks so much! Great to have interacted with you and don't be a stranger to my short box build.

I have always like that scoop, trake me back to kid when all the F- dump trucks ran those on thier hoods.

I think that would look good/Kool on my 79' K-30. Do let know if you decide to flip it ;)

thanks

john

Damn Cort,

First the pickup, now the Suburban! You have a new daily to replace the 78?
Is the 78 capable of towing the trailer over hill and dale?
As for the hood scoop I guess you could take some photos of it or something, not much use to you now.
Your going to have to change your avatar, cause you don't choke anything manually anymore...unless its your chicken!

I know the feeling Cort. I just sold my 70 today (he picks it up next weekend).
I love watching all your projects over the last several years, so I guess you an I are stuck with just our squares now.

 True, actually I am in the beginning throws of restoring a 1963 17' Hydroswift that has an old Evinrude Starflite V-4, so I still get to choke that. Haha.

Not sure what I'll do with the hood scoop. Sad part is, I just had the bezel of it chromed and it looks so good! I guess I'll wait a little and throw it on ebay or something. It is only getting rarer and rarer.

The Squarebody tows the camper just fine. Almost every trip I've made in the camper has been behind the square. You just have to be patient, and on the hills just throw on the hazards and wait it out. Haha.

Thanks man. I'm sure you had your '70 much longer than I had my burb so it must have been much more difficult for you. A lot of my friends were like, "why the hell are you keeping that ugly brown truck and getting rid of the burb?" Haha. Oh well, I have big plans on the horizon for the brown truck once winter sets in. I'll see you over in the 73-87 forum buddy.
