raining here today/this week, so it is a good day to drag out my bed and pressure wash it... get it ready to be DA'd to bare metal. Fenders need another wash/sand too

 I know, I've been busy painting at my gf's house a lot of work, I haven't been getting home till 11 or later.. I'm hoping to finish before this weekend and Saturday I'm going to tear into my truck turn it around and start doing some more wire wheel, or finally sand down my cab. Either way I'm going to try to get some work done on the truck this weekend. Sounds like you got a busy day ahead of yourself.

That rocks! have you gotten all this stuff through a vet group? How do they know who to help out? It's awesome that they help you where you want, instead of say, showing up with a hot tub or the like. I was in the Army for 22 years and where I retired there is VA hospital but not a lot of ways to help out deserving guys. Most of the guy guys I meet in my line of work claim to be, (disabled, sniper, killer ect..) but are full of S*^t.
It would be nice to find a group that would help out the ones who truly need it, and be able to figure out if they are full of crap or not. I guess you have a %100 disability rating?

yeah 100, there are lot's of programs out there for Vets... go to the VA hospital talk to a counselor, they have info about lot's of stuff, and org's that help vets, and things you can participate in

You know speaking of vets I was watching something on tv last night and a vet started this group called P.O.W. and it was a way to help former vets adjust and get the anger and things out of there system it was a cool because it was open to all vets and there was a group of about 20 guys or so I just can't remember what the letters stood for, I just thought it was cool, and would share.

It's been an honor for me personally to watch you build your truck and get to know you to a certain level.

Just spoke to Lars Grimsrud, the Quadrajet guru. I am shipping him my Quad for modification, rebuild, and tuning. I think it is the best deal out there from a master Quadrajet builder. Send him your core, 190 bucks later and you have a blueprinted carb, what else do I need to say? I'm excited to say the least! :metal: :smoke:

Can't wait to hear the results.
Going with a Q-jet on my BBO.
I bought the Q-jet book but my vision sucks these days and I'm not sure doing it myself will be worth the aggravation.

have to send him an email, and request his tech document, and his shipping instructions document. He'll respond really fast.
He'll be gone for a few days, so if you decide to ship him your carb, send it after the 13th of July, he'll be back then...

it's called the Pugilistic Offensive Warrior Tactics team.
Working out and sparring does help, in fact I am sore right now nursing a rib bruise.
I was in combat for 30 months.....

go to any VA hospital, and ask about programs for Vets, go to mental health and ask for programs... here in the mountains of NC, there is a Veterans mountain climbing groups, fly fishing, hiking, biking, they get together on weekends etc. there are too many to list here. if you are a Vet and able...get out there and join something and hang out with our fellow brothers.
airborne all the way :metal:'

now on to truck building :smoke:

Contemplating an Olds 455 or Pontiac 461 from a 400 block...
Waiting on my pitman arm, shocks from rockauto
Just got my fuel line/brake line clip set from inline tube
Waiting on my Gabrial shocks front/rear from rock auto
Waiting on my parking brake pedal assemble, and complete parking brake cables from LMC
Once I jave all that ****...the rolling chassis will pretty much complete SOON...

Go big or go home right? I vote for 461, just for the fact if I really had the cash I would put a 572 in my truck  either way it's going to be torquey and haul some ass!!

Woohoo!!!! I'm looking forward to some progress and pictures!!! :metal:

the 461 is only 5800.00, Olds is about the same, a little more, depends on how you build it, and the Pontiac is looking nicer than the Olds 455, but the Olds kicks ass too, just in different ways...mostly the crazy gobs of low end torque they make...it's ridiculous...
We'll see...the next few weeks will tell cause I'll be pretty much complete with the rolling chassis

yeah man I have ADD so I go from one thing to another... my brakes are all set to put on the 9" but I need the e-brake stuff before i get motivated to do it LOL
All the other stuff is kinda easy, the brake/fuel line clips blah blah. then I have to torque nuts/bolts and the rolling chassis will be done! I can't wait.
My cab/fenders are sanded and primed...then I need the bed sanded and prepped. already got all the lights. will be getting the front pieces soon.

What bumpers do people recommend? any part numbers or pics?

Once I get that stuff, maybe 2 weekends of turning wrenches and this thig will be ready to test drive... my deadline is September 5th, so I got's to work hard :) keep me motivated!! :)
